Summary

We are the people who give possibilities purpose

BD is one of the largest global medical technology companies in the world. Advancing the world of health is our Purpose, and it's no small feat. It takes the imagination and passion of all of us-from design and engineering to the manufacturing and marketing of our billions of MedTech products per year-to look at the impossible and find transformative solutions that turn dreams into possibilities.
Job Description

The Infrastructure Architect will play a critical role in enabling the organization's transition toward a product-based delivery model by designing scalable, resilient, and secure infrastructure capabilities that empower product teams to deliver value rapidly and reliably. This position partners closely with Product Owners, Engineering Leads, and Business Stakeholders to define modern infrastructure patterns, platforms, and services that support continuous delivery, automation, and innovation.

This role blends strategic vision with hands-on technical expertise, applying deep knowledge across cloud, platform engineering, automation, observability, and service reliability. The Infrastructure Architect ensures that infrastructure services evolve as products - with clear roadmaps, lifecycle management, measurable service levels, and customer-focused outcomes.

You will collaborate with internal application teams, infrastructure engineering, and external partners to design end-to-end solutions and lead the delivery of enterprise platforms that support the company's digital transformation strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Provide strategic oversight and technical leadership for infrastructure platforms that enable product teams to build, deploy, and run applications at scale.
  • Develop and continually refine product-aligned infrastructure roadmaps, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and long-term business objectives.
  • Recommend and evaluate modern technologies - including cloud-native services, container orchestration, automation, and infrastructure-as-code - to meet evolving business and product team needs.
  • Define and review infrastructure designs to ensure alignment with IT strategy, product delivery requirements, security requirements, and resilience best practices.
  • Partner with Product Managers and infrastructure engineering teams to translate business requirements into scalable architecture patterns, service definitions, and engineering backlogs.
  • Drive adoption of platform engineering principles by offering reusable frameworks and automation that accelerate product development cycles.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure assets, blueprints, and reusable patterns that support consistency and operational excellence across products.
  • Lead solution design for proposals and major initiatives, serving as the technical thought leader and ensuring infrastructure services are positioned as measurable, consumable products.
  • Validate and modernize existing architecture by assessing performance, scalability, security, and lifecycle needs; recommend and drive continuous improvement.
  • Guide and contribute to cloud enablement, including private/public cloud provisioning standards, orchestration, governance, and security frameworks.
  • Design capabilities for capacity & performance management, observability, SLO/SLA adherence, and resilience engineering.
  • Support product teams with technical assessments, prototypes, proofs of concept, and feasibility analysis for new platform capabilities.
  • Ensure infrastructure products meet compliance, security, and data protection requirements, including secure-by-design principles and data masking controls.
  • Influence engineering culture by promoting DevSecOps practices, automation-first delivery, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor's degree in information systems, Computer Science, or related IT/Software discipline.
  • Broad technical expertise across servers, storage, databases, cloud platforms, networking, and middleware.
  • 8+ years of experience in modern infrastructure engineering, architecture, cloud design, and platform enablement.
  • Strong understanding of product operating models, agile delivery, DevOps/DevSecOps, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience designing infrastructure services as products with defined SLA/SLOs, lifecycle roadmaps, and measurable outcomes.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities to support long-term architecture direction.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical efforts, influence senior stakeholders, and communicate clearly across organizational levels.

Preferred
  • Master's degree in business administration, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Experience leading global platform implementations or enterprise cloud modernization initiatives.
  • Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF or Zachman.
  • Proven experience building collaborative, high-performing engineering/product teams.
