We are seeking a Senior Architect with a strong background in healthcare provider technologies to lead a major application modernization and migration initiative. This strategic program focuses on upgrading the technical stack, including operating systems, middleware, and databases, while modernizing applications and enabling cloud adoption for targeted workloads.
The ideal candidate will play a critical role in defining modernization strategies, evaluating application readiness, and guiding application, infrastructure, and deployment teams through implementation. This role requires a deep understanding of healthcare technology environments and the ability to ensure compliance with healthcare security, privacy, and interoperability standards.

responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead architecture planning and modernization efforts across clinical and business applications within the healthcare provider ecosystem.
- Assess current-state application portfolios and develop upgrade roadmaps for operating systems, databases, and middleware platforms.
- Design and oversee end-to-end migration strategies for applications moving to new data centers and cloud environments (IaaS/PaaS).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Infrastructure, Integration, Security, and Clinical IT to ensure successful project execution.
- Define and implement cloud migration approaches such as lift-and-shift, replatforming, and application refactoring.
- Establish modernization, integration, resiliency, and high-availability architecture standards and best practices.
- Ensure all solution architectures comply with healthcare regulations and industry standards, including HIPAA and HITRUST.
- Provide hands-on architectural leadership, governance, and technical guidance throughout the migration lifecycle.
- Support risk management, business continuity, and disaster recovery planning during transition activities.
- Act as a trusted advisor and liaison between technical teams, business leaders, and clinical stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate's, Bachelor's, or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of IT architecture experience, including at least 3 years supporting healthcare provider organizations.
- Demonstrated experience modernizing legacy applications and leading large-scale migrations to cloud platforms and/or new data centers.
- Strong understanding of infrastructure technologies, including servers, networking, storage, virtualization, and operating system upgrades.
- Proven ability to lead complex technical initiatives and manage stakeholder relationships across multiple teams.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience developing and implementing hybrid cloud strategies and legacy-to-modern application transformation initiatives.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform), including cloud-native architecture principles.
- Deep understanding of healthcare security, compliance, and data privacy requirements, including HIPAA and HITRUST frameworks.
- Professional certifications such as TOGAF, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect.
- Working knowledge of healthcare interoperability and integration standards, including HL7 and FHIR, and the supporting infrastructure required to enable them.
