Summary

  • Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain MySQL, Redis, and PostgreSQL databases in on-premises and AWS environments.
  • Manage database schemas, indexing, and performance optimization.
  • Manage database replication and high-availability solutions.
  • Administer AWS managed database services:
    • RDS
    • Aurora
    • ElastiCache
    • DynamoDB
    • S3
    • EC2
  • Perform backup, recovery, and disaster recovery operations.
  • Ensure data integrity, reliability, and minimal data loss/downtime.
  • Automate routine tasks and infrastructure setup using Ansible and AWS CloudFormation.
  • Design and implement monitoring and alerting using:
    • CloudWatch
    • PMM
    • Datadog
    • MonYog
  • Perform daily maintenance, health checks, and capacity planning.
  • Troubleshoot database and server issues.
  • Optimize complex queries and database performance.
  • Collaborate with application developers on efficient schema design and database optimization.
  • Work with DevSecOps teams on security patches and upgrades.
  • Strong hands-on experience with MySQL installation, configuration, and maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of MySQL internals and storage engines.
  • Strong Linux administration skills.
  • Experience with MySQL performance tuning.
  • Experience with backup and recovery processes.
  • Experience with AWS cloud services preferred.
  • Experience with Grafana or CloudWatch beneficial.
  • Experience with Jenkins or GitLab CI beneficial.
  • Knowledge of MongoDB or Redis is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Docker or Kubernetes is advantageous.
  • Good Shell scripting or Python skills.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for production incidents.
  • Comfortable working onsite in New Jersey.
  • Generate ad-hoc reports and provide insights as requested by internal teams or stakeholders.
