Description
A typical week includes monitoring and maintaining network performance, resolving incidents, configuring and optimizing Cisco and Fortinet equipment, collaborating with IT teams, and contributing to ongoing projects.
Qualifications:
Education: Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field required; Bachelor's degree preferred. Must hold an active Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification. Additional certifications such as CompTIA Network+ or Cisco Certified Design Professional (CCDP) are highly desirable.
Experience: 5-7 years of hands-on experience in network engineering or administration, including at least 3 years in a Level 2 or equivalent role supporting enterprise network environments. Proven experience configuring, managing, and troubleshooting Cisco-based wired and wireless networks is essential.
Technical Knowledge:
Advanced proficiency in configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls (e.g., Cisco Catalyst, Nexus, or ASA series).
Strong working knowledge of network protocols and technologies, including ACI, TCP/IP, VLANs, OSPF, BGP, VPNs, and QoS.
Proficiency in Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking, including switching, routing, and subnetting, with hands-on experience in troubleshooting complex network issues.
Familiarity with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Wireshark, Cisco Prime, and the ability to analyze network performance and traffic.
Experience with wireless networking, including Cisco industrial wireless networks with specific configurations for low latency, high speed roaming, Wi-Fi optimization, and securing wireless infrastructure.
Troubleshooting Skills: Ability to perform advanced Level 2 troubleshooting, including diagnosing and resolving complex network performance issues, connectivity problems, wireless disruptions, and security incidents, with appropriate escalation when necessary.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical network and wireless concepts to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Customer Service Mindset: Demonstrated ability to maintain a professional, solution-oriented attitude while working with end users, IT teams, and vendors to resolve network and wireless-related issues.
Adaptability: Proactive and eager to stay current with evolving networking and wireless technologies, willingness to learn container terminal technology infrastructure and industry best practices in a fast-paced environment.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with a methodical approach to diagnosing and resolving network and wireless issues efficiently, leveraging tools like packet analysis, log reviews, and Cisco diagnostic utilities.
Teamwork and Independence: Ability to work independently on network and wireless projects and troubleshooting tasks while collaborating effectively with other engineers, 3rd party vendors, support teams, and management to ensure seamless network operations.
Physical Requirements: Capable of performing physical tasks, such as installing network cabling, racking equipment, and troubleshooting hardware or wireless access points in data centers or wiring closets, with the ability to lift up to 40 lbs and work in confined spaces as needed.
Reliability: Punctual, dependable, and able to manage time effectively to respond to network and wireless incidents promptly and meet service level agreements (SLAs).
Attention to Detail: Meticulous in documenting network and wireless configurations, changes, and troubleshooting activities, ensuring compliance with standard procedures and thorough resolution of issues. Demonstration and proof of ability to work in Visio, Excalidraw and Lucid Charts is a plus.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $75.00/hr.
