About the Role
We are hiring a Crypto and PKI Governance Specialist to join our client s cybersecurity governance function on a contract basis. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a large, complex enterprise environment where security, risk management, and regulatory compliance are critical. You will play a key role in defining and overseeing cryptographic and PKI governance standards that support secure and compliant technology operations across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as a subject matter expert for cryptographic governance and PKI lifecycle management
Define, maintain, and enforce enterprise cryptography and PKI governance frameworks, policies, and standards
Oversee encryption key and digital certificate lifecycle processes, including generation, rotation, archival, and decommissioning
Partner with engineering teams to ensure cryptographic implementations align with governance and compliance requirements
Identify, assess, and mitigate risks related to cryptographic systems and PKI
Collaborate with audit, risk, and compliance teams to support regulatory reviews and internal assessments
Monitor and report on crypto and PKI compliance metrics and control effectiveness
Evaluate third-party vendor solutions for cryptographic and PKI compliance and integration
Stay current with evolving cryptographic standards, including Post-Quantum Cryptography
Provide guidance and mentorship to technical teams on cryptographic governance best practices
What We re Looking For
Experience in cryptographic governance, PKI, or cybersecurity risk and compliance roles
Strong understanding of cryptographic principles, PKI architecture, and key lifecycle management
Hands-on experience working with governance frameworks and regulatory standards such as NIST, ISO, and PCI-DSS
Familiarity with secure communication protocols including TLS, SSL, and SSH
Experience supporting audits, risk assessments, and compliance initiatives
Knowledge of cloud-based key management and protection strategies
Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Basic scripting or coding knowledge and understanding of SDLC processes
Agile delivery experience is a plus
Compensation
$70.00 $72.00 per hour
This range reflects base compensation and may vary based on location, market conditions, experience, and candidate qualifications.
