Summary

Overview

As an AI Engineer within our product engineering team, you will embark on a journey to help shape the future of our company by supporting the design, development, and implementation of AI-driven innovations. Your mission is to assist in integrating intelligent technologies into our design and development processes, working alongside our mechanical, electrical, and firmware engineers to push the boundaries of what's possible. Ideal candidates will have hands-on experience working directly on machines, industrial equipment, or embedded hardware systems - not solely cloud-based model development. Experience connecting to machine control boards, pulling sensor data, and building automated test or simulation environments is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with senior engineers to integrate AI and machine learning into the design, development, and testing processes for mechanical, electrical, and firmware systems.
  • Assist in researching emerging AI technologies and contribute to building business cases for their adoption.
  • Support the development and tracking of key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the impact of AI initiatives on efficiency, product quality, and innovation.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for AI/ML solutions and support pilots and scaling efforts.
  • Participate in the engineering and deployment of AI/ML models for design optimization and predictive analysis of product performance and reliability.
  • Contribute to AI-driven prototype development through coding and validation.
  • Assist in the integration of AI features into engineering tools and systems by collaborating with domain experts.
  • Help maintain documentation and deliver training programs that enhance AI literacy across the engineering organization.
  • Connect to machine control and connectivity boards to collect, process, and analyze sensor and telemetry data.
  • Build and support automated testing capabilities including equipment simulators (e.g., laundry machine simulators) and automated test benches.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software integration issues directly at the machine level.
  • Develop software in C/C++ and Python to interface with machine systems and support edge AI deployment.

Qualifications

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related field required; equivalent experience accepted.
  • Certification in AI/ML technologies desirable

Experience:
  • 2+ years of experience in engineering
  • Ideal candidates will have experience in AI/ML applications in product development or manufacturing
  • Prior experience in manufacturing or industrial equipment industries preferred

Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong communication skills with diverse audiences, from presenting to executives to drafting detailed technical documentation for engineering teams.
  • Eagerness to learn and apply AI solutions in product engineering.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and assist in multiple projects to meet deadlines and deliver results.
  • Strong analytical skills for collecting data and helping develop data-informed solutions.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to translate complex technical problems into simpler terms.
  • Self-motivated with a strong willingness to learn new concepts and tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in C and/or C++, particularly in embedded or machine-level software development.
  • Experience connecting to industrial machines or control systems and extracting sensor/telemetry data.
  • Familiarity with automated test frameworks, test bench development, or equipment simulation.
  • Hardware troubleshooting skills at the board/machine level.
