Overview
This Senior Windows Server Systems Administrator can work fully remote but must be in the DC Metro area in case the team needs to meet in person. This is likely to be a contract-to-hire, and the conversion salary is 140K max.
Responsibilities
- Support and manage Windows enterprise management technologies, including Active Directory, DNS, and Certificate Authorities.
- Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain Windows Server operating systems in support of Active Directory, DNS, and Certificate Authorities.
- Manage and maintain Active Directory systems and support Active Directory health checks with scripts.
- Maintain the certificate environment, including issuing and installing certificates without outages.
- Develop scripts to monitor system health for Active Directory, DNS, and Certificate Authorities.
- Design, develop, and support scalable, redundant infrastructure across physical, virtualized, and cloud environments.
- Install, configure, and manage Windows-based certificate authority servers.
- Configure group management policies, including role-based access control.
- Set up and maintain administrator and service accounts, document systems, tune performance, and install system-wide software.
- Apply NIST, DISA security controls, and security hardening best practices.
- Implement critical system patches and manage storage space efficiently.
- Collaborate daily with engineering teams and system owners to influence design and architect solutions.
- Manage project priorities, deliverables, and deadlines effectively.
- Produce clear documentation for solutions provided.
Requirements
- BS in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related discipline.
- 8+ years of systems engineering or administration experience (6+ years with a MS/MIS Degree).
- Experience orchestrating workflows with data dependencies.
- Proficiency with DevOps tools and scripting languages including PowerShell.
- 5+ years of experience with Directory services (Microsoft Active Directory, Entra ID/Azure AD), Certificate Administration, and DNS.
- 4+ years supporting Tier II & Tier III Windows OS support.
- 3+ years of experience with ADFS, OKTA, or similar authentication services.
- Experience managing certificates and certificate authorities like Microsoft, Digicert, Entrust/Sectigo, SSL.com.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently and with cross-disciplinary teams.
