Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.

As a Senior Data Science Engineer at Micron, you will employ techniques and theories drawn from areas of mathematics, statistics, semiconductor physics, materials science, and information technology to uncover patterns in data from which predictive models, actionable insights, and solutions can be developed.

You will interact with experienced Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Business Areas Engineers, and UX teams to identify questions and issues for data analysis projects and improvement of existing tools. In this position, you will help develop software programs, algorithms and/or automated processes to cleanse, integrate, and evaluate large datasets from multiple disparate sources. There will be significant opportunities to perform exploratory and new solution development activities.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement AI and ML solutions to support product development, validation, and optimization.
  • Collaborate with functional subject matter experts within engineering groups to understand domain challenges and develop data science solutions.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in data science and apply them to solve complex problems.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Physics, or a related field plus over 5 years of relevant experience is required. Alternatively, a Master's degree with more than 2 years of experience or a PhD with no experience is acceptable in data science and/or the semiconductor industry.
  • Verified capability in building and launching data science solutions that include data engineering, application of Machine Learning algorithms, UI/UX, and ML Ops.
  • Proficient in programming languages such as Python or R.
  • Excellent written and verbal English-language communication and presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience within the semiconductor sector is strongly preferred. Experience in the memory sector is highly desirable.
  • Expertise working with Large Language Models (LLMs), including fine-tuning, timely engineering, and evaluation of model performance.
  • Familiarity with agentic AI systems-designing, deploying, or integrating autonomous agents capable of reasoning, planning, and accomplishing tasks across complex workflows.
  • Ability to build strong interpersonal relationships and a passion to teach others about data science and continue to learn new techniques.
