The Opportunity

StaffRight Associates is recruiting for a premier global leader in high-performance thermal management, specialized air-movement systems, and precision cooling architectures to source an exceptional Senior Mechanical Design Engineer. Located in the Woodstock, NY area, this mission-critical role sits at the intersection of advanced electromagnetic design and aerospace hardware innovation, directly influencing state-of-the-art cooling solutions deployed across defense and commercial platforms.

The successful candidate will drive the end-to-end evolution of next-generation electric motors and thermal systems, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to solve complex engineering challenges in high-stakes environments.

What You’ll Do

  • Architect next-generation electric motors, high-efficiency blowers, and custom thermal management hardware engineered for extreme operational environments.

  • Drive continuous design optimization, engineering change notices (ECNs), and lifecycle enhancements for core product lines with high technical precision.

  • Champion seamless cross-functional communication by translating advanced electromagnetic concepts into clear, actionable guidelines for assembly and testing technicians.

  • Synthesize root-cause failure analyses and warranty evaluations to establish robust corrective and preventive action documentation.

  • Formulate comprehensive technical review packages, approving detailed blueprints, Bills Of Materials (BOMs), validation test procedures, and performance reports.

  • Spearhead direct engineering support across business operations, serving as a key subject matter expert for production, program management, and client-facing teams.

What You Bring

  • Possess a Bachelor''''s or Master''''s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

  • Demonstrate 8+ years of dedicated engineering experience operating within an AS 9100 Quality Management System manufacturing facility.

  • Exhibit expert proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning And Tolerancing (GD&T) paired with extensive hands-on experience testing high-performance rotating equipment.

  • Command deep expertise in Stator And Rotor Assemblies, internal subcomponent integration, and precision motor packaging.

  • Leverage strong fundamental principles of Electromagnetics, covering single-phase and three-phase AC Induction Motors as well as pulse-width modulated Brushless DC Motors (BLDC).

  • Apply deep knowledge of structural materials and metallurgy, including electrical steels, permanent magnets, copper, aluminum alloys, and specialized housings.

  • Utilize design and analysis software platforms, including AutoCAD, Ansys Motor CAD, Speed Motor Design Software, and Magnetic FEA Solver.

  • Deploy productivity software toolsets including Microsoft Office, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Powerpoint.

  • Maintain mandatory ship status as required for defense technology compliance.

  • Bring prior domain exposure within Military Aerospace or Commercial Aerospace sectors (strongly preferred).

Compensation & Total Rewards

  • Base Salary Range: $130,000 – $155,000 annually.

  • Relocation Package: Paid relocation available.

  • Employment Type: Full-Time / Direct Hire.
