The IT Project & Configuration Manager is responsible for coordinating IT projects, change enablement, and configuration management to support stable operations, controlled risk, and compliant delivery of IT services. This role establishes clear governance, documentation, and performance tracking to ensure changes are well controlled, systems remain stable, and new capabilities are delivered smoothly.
MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACTAs a Configuration Manager, the work you'll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of U.S. Army Europe. You will play a crucial role in mission command support for U.S. and NATO forces in Vicenza Italy.
- Coordinate and support IT projects that introduce new or modified systems, applications, or infrastructure into the production environment.
- Ensure project activities align with operational, security and configuration management requirements.
- Own and administer IT change enablement processes in accordance with ITIL 4, including standard, normal, and emergency changes.
- Assess and manage risk and impact for projects and changes using configuration and operational data.
- Ensure all projects and changes include required documentation, testing evidence, implementation plans, and rollback procedures.
- Develop, maintain, and publish configuration and project documentation in accordance with established standards and processes.
- Coordinate and facilitate Change Advisory Board (CAB) activities and enforce approved change schedules, maintenance windows, and blackout periods.
- Maintain accurate and complete change and configuration records within authorized tools (e.g., SerivceNow, PowerBI)
- Own and maintain the Service Configuration Management practice, ensuring CMDB accuracy and integrity.
- Establish and maintain configuration baselines and validate configuration updates following approved changes and project implementations.
- Perform configuration audits and reconcile discrepancies to prevent configuration drift.
- Monitor and report operational metrics related to projects, changes, and configuration performance.
- Ensure compliance with security audit, and contractual requirements.
- Provide coordination, reporting and communication with technical teams, project management, and mission stakeholders.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEEDBring your Configuration Management expertise along with a drive for innovation to GDIT. The Configuration Manager must have:
- Education: Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science
- Experience: 5+ years of related experience
- Technical skills: Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience supporting IT project coordination, configuration management, change management, or operational IT support activities; Working knowledge of configuration control processes, including tracking baselines, changes, assets, and supporting documentation; Experience coordinating activities across technical teams, program staff, and mission stakeholders; Ability to organize, track, and maintain accurate records, documentation, and status information related to projects, changes, and configuration items; Experience working with configuration management tools, asset databases, or ITSM platforms (e.g., ServiceNow)
- Security clearance level: Active DoD Secret clearance with SSBI eligibility (at minimum)

- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification required within six (6) months of hire.

The likely salary range for this position is $107,744 - $126,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
Total compensation for international positions varies by tax, social security, and immigration statuses, as well as location. Generally, an international assignment may include allowances, premium uplifts, and/or relocation or transportation benefits, above base salary range noted.
