Job Summary
The Business Intelligence Developer is responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, and supporting enterprise reporting, analytics, and data integration solutions that enable data-driven decision-making across the Canteen business. This role partners closely with business stakeholders, analysts, data engineers, and technical teams to deliver scalable reporting and analytics solutions using SAP BusinessObjects, SAP Data Integrator (DI), Sigma Computing, and cloud-based data platforms.
The ideal candidate combines expertise in reporting development, data integration, and analytics. This position will support existing SAP BusinessObjects solutions while contributing to the organization's reporting modernization efforts through Sigma Computing. The role will develop and maintain trusted reporting assets, support established governance standards, and help enable self-service analytics capabilities across the business.
This position is remote with required quarterly travel.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting & Analytics Development
- Design, develop, test, and maintain SAP BusinessObjects Web Intelligence (WebI) reports and reporting solutions.
- Design, develop, and support Sigma dashboards, workbooks, and self-service analytics solutions.
- Create operational, financial, and management reporting solutions that support business decision-making.
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical reporting specifications.
- Develop and maintain reporting standards, documentation, and best practices.
- Optimize report and dashboard performance, usability, and reliability.
- Support reporting modernization initiatives by assisting with migration of reporting assets from BusinessObjects to Sigma.
Data Modeling & Semantic Layer Development
- Design, develop, and maintain SAP BusinessObjects Universes using Universe Designer and Information Design Tool (IDT).
- Build and maintain Sigma datasets and report data models.
- Develop reusable reporting assets that promote consistency across departments.
- Support established governance standards, naming conventions, and reporting best practices.
- Validate calculations, joins, metrics, and business logic to ensure reporting accuracy.
- Perform impact analysis for changes to source systems, data structures, and reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with business users to ensure reporting definitions align with business requirements.
Data Integration & Data Management
- Develop, maintain, and support ETL processes using SAP Data Integrator (DI).
- Create and support data integration processes used by reporting and analytics solutions.
- Validate data accuracy, completeness, and consistency across reporting platforms.
- Investigate and troubleshoot data quality issues and report discrepancies.
- Collaborate with data engineering and database teams to improve reporting performance and reliability.
- Support cloud-based data warehouse environments including Amazon Redshift and similar platforms.
User Support & Continuous Improvement
- Provide production support for BusinessObjects, Data Integrator, and Sigma reporting environments.
- Troubleshoot report failures, dashboard issues, performance concerns, and user-reported problems.
- Support end users by answering reporting-related questions and providing guidance on reporting functionality.
- Assist with testing, deployment, and release management activities.
- Help maintain certified reporting assets and standardized reporting solutions.
- Identify opportunities to automate processes and improve reporting efficiency.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with business stakeholders across operations, finance, supply chain, and other functional areas to understand reporting and analytics needs.
- Collaborate with developers, analysts, data engineers, and business users to deliver quality reporting solutions.
- Participate in project planning, estimation, and prioritization activities.
- Support reporting modernization and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to team knowledge sharing and reporting best practices.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 3+ years of experience developing enterprise reporting, business intelligence, or analytics solutions.
- Hands-on experience with SAP BusinessObjects, including:
- Web Intelligence (WebI)
- Universe Designer and/or Information Design Tool (IDT)
- Experience developing and supporting ETL processes using SAP Data Integrator (DI).
- Experience developing dashboards, reports, or analytical solutions using Sigma Computing or a comparable cloud analytics platform.
- Strong SQL development and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience working with Amazon Redshift or similar cloud-based data warehouse platforms.
- Experience gathering business requirements and translating them into reporting solutions.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and customer support skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Sigma Computing workbooks, datasets, and dashboard development.
- Experience supporting BusinessObjects-to-Sigma reporting migrations.
- Familiarity with reporting governance and data quality processes.
- Experience with cloud-based analytics and reporting environments.
- Knowledge of dimensional modeling and data warehousing concepts.
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale reporting environments.
- Exposure to Agile delivery methodologies.
- Experience working with large and complex datasets from multiple source systems.
