Aptask Global Workforce (AGW) is seeking a Packaging Engineer - Hybrid for a contract position with a Global Biotechnology Company located in Thousand Oaks, CA. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity. This position reports into the Packaging Engineering group and will apply engineering principles to execute the proper design, qualification, and implementation of Primary and Secondary Packaging components and associated systems. The role requires strong knowledge of packaging systems and material science, along with project management and technical problem-solving skills to support day-to-day commercial operations and lifecycle management in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities: - Support for testing and evaluation leading to recommendation and selection of primary and secondary packaging materials
- Write test protocols, perform technical evaluations and testing to support reports used to justify the use of selected materials and packaging components
- Write technical specifications, create engineering drawings, and develop artwork templates
- Use AutoCAD, Illustrator, or similar software to create, modify, and approve engineering drawings
- Support line trials and packaging validation activities prior to introduction of any new or change in components/processes
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (i.e. Quality, Device Engineering, Supply Chain, Artwork, Manufacturing, Regulatory, etc.) in pre-commercial and commercial activities
Requirements: - Master's degree OR Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of engineering/scientific experience
- Familiarity with Material Testing standards, requirements, and equipment is essential
- Organizational, project management, technical problem-solving, and communication (written and verbal) skills
- Experience in the medical device, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology industry
- Lab-based experience
- Ability to work on-site 3-4 days a week
Desired skills: - BS in Packaging, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Life Sciences
- 3+ years of general packaging/engineering experience
- Knowledge of primary and secondary packaging systems and material science
- Independent problem solver with demonstrated skills working in teams or leading project teams
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Pay range: up to $42.52 per hour
