Summary

Overview

We are seeking a full-time Aviation Systems Engineering Support Specialist at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for working with systems and programs engineers to coordinate technical issue troubleshooting, lead the generation and maintenance of select technical system documentation, and be responsible for integrated flight deck software loading and test execution.

Essential Functions
  • Lead the generation and maintenance of select technical documentation, LRU library, and data packages
  • Independently research, analyze and prepare Request for Proposal (RFP) responses complex integrated avionics systems
  • Define format and create useable data by analyzing data logged during flights and preparing in clear and concise manner
  • Lead technical issue troubleshooting, including conducting software loading, testing and troubleshooting on integrated system test benches and proactively engage and coordinate appropriate company resource to resolve issues
  • Perform a wide variety of nonstandard complex tasks associated with avionic system analysis, research, test preparation and evaluation
  • Define format and development of relevant, clear records, logs and analytical data
  • Assist with maintenance of scalable documentation / data packages as outlined below
  • Serve as main point of contact for making / modifying drawings (ECOs)
  • Independently coordinate w/ production and Project Engineers to ensure HW needs are met (flightworthy, conformed, TSOA)
  • Enforce necessary changes with systems and program engineers that affect products for multiple programs (e.g. interconnect change that needs to be made in multiple airframe interconnects as well as the generic interconnect)
  • Coordinate shipping of engineering items, maintain internal status reporting tools, and prepare airframe-specific software configuration files
  • Lead creation of draft Software Change Impact Analysis material
  • Conduct and assemble market research on competitive products and potentially new market opportunities and perform general group process enhancements (miscellaneous group spreadsheets, etc.)
  • Analyze product usage data in support of business case analysis

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree AND a minimum of 2 years experience in the aviation industry OR a minimum of 5 years relevant work experience
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Demonstrates proficient understanding of electrical engineering theories and concepts
  • Demonstrates strong and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Driven problem solver with proven success in solving difficult problems and excellent time management and follow-up skills

Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering Technology, or another substantially similar electronics or technical field
  • Pilot's License
  • Aviation background
