Job Title: Research Associate Virology / Immunology
Location: Foster City, CA (100% Onsite)
Duration: 6-Month Contract
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated Research Associate with experience in virology, immunology, or molecular and cell biology to support research focused on developing novel therapies for viral diseases such as HBV, HDV, and HSV. The ideal candidate will have strong laboratory experience in cell-based assays, molecular biology techniques, and data analysis, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative research environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, validate, and execute virology, cell-based biochemical, and immunology assays.
- Construct and propagate mutant viruses.
- Evaluate the antiviral activity (EC50) of drug candidates against wild-type and mutant viruses.
- Investigate the mechanism of action (MOA) of lead compounds.
- Analyze, interpret, and present experimental data to project teams.
- Troubleshoot technical challenges and recommend effective solutions.
- Maintain accurate experimental records and ensure high-quality data.
- Collaborate with cross-functional research teams to support project objectives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Immunology, or a related life sciences discipline.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant laboratory experience.
- Hands-on experience with one or more of the following:
- Primary cell isolation and cell culture
- ELISA
- RNA/DNA isolation
- qPCR
- Molecular cloning
- Virus production
- Immune cell functional assays
- Multi-color Flow Cytometry (FACS)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced research environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in antiviral research, especially HBV, HDV, or HSV.
- Knowledge of virology assay development and mechanism-of-action studies.
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary pharmaceutical or biotechnology research environment.
