Cyber Systems Engineer - DoD

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor s degree with 5 years, Master s degree with 3 years, or PhD with 1 year of experience in Systems Engineering, Cybersecurity Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Understanding of systems engineering principles, theories, and concepts.
• Ability to work semi-independently with general direction from senior leadership.
• Direct experience utilizing NIST SP 800-160 system security engineering principles and/or the system development life cycle.
• Direct experience in one or more Systems Engineering activities, including:
  • System requirements decomposition, derivation, flow-down, and traceability
  • Architecture
  • High-level and detailed design
  • Implementation
  • Integration and testing
  • Verification and validation
• Direct experience supporting the development of RMF assessment and authorization artifacts to satisfy NIST SP 800-37 requirements.
• Possession of an active Secret clearance.
• Must be able to obtain a Top Secret clearance within required program timelines.
• Must be able to obtain Special Access to the program.
• Ability to obtain an IASAE II certification (CISSP preferred) within six months of hire, in accordance with DoDI 8570/8140.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to work semi-independently with general direction from senior leadership.
• IASAE Level III certification (ISSEP, ISSAP) in accordance with DoDI 8570/8140.
• Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance.
• Software Assurance experience.
• Expertise with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and related tools such as Cameo.
• Expertise with requirements management tools such as IBM DOORS.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity systems engineering practices, network technologies, DoD system development life cycles and methodologies, and information technology infrastructure management, monitoring, and applications.
• Expertise with containerized software systems in accordance with the DoD DevSecOps Reference Design.
• Experience innovating cybersecurity accreditation processes and procedures in a multi-certification environment, such as Cyber and Nuclear Surety, as part of a Digital Engineering Environment.
• Experience authoring and maintaining critical program authorization documents, including:
  • Cybersecurity Strategies
  • System Security Plans
  • Continuous Monitoring Plans
  • Security Assessment Plans
• Experience in a Systems Engineering role with responsibilities involving the planning, design, implementation, testing, and delivery of systems with Cyber/Information Assurance requirements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation, coordination, and interpersonal skills.
• Proven experience collaborating with program managers and customer representatives to meet program objectives.
• Experience managing and directing efforts following an Agile and DevSecOps process model.
• Proven ability to analyze, estimate, and implement solutions to complex problems spanning multiple engineering disciplines.
• Ability to effectively negotiate challenging program requirements, strategies, and conflicting constraints among a large and diverse group of program stakeholders.
