Sr. Integration, Data & AI Engineer

Reports to: Chief Technology Officer

Location: Dallas, TX (3 days in the office)

Employment: Full-time

Seniority: Mid-Senior 5 8 years relevant experience

About

The client is a PE-backed platform. The company is in active acquisition mode, adding operating companies to its portfolio on a recurring basis.

The Role

The Sr. Integration, Data & AI Engineer is the internal technical owner of company's unified operational platform as it scales across an active portfolio of acquired commercial roofing companies. Daily operations run through Sage Intacct as the financial backbone and BuildOps as the field service engine, connected by Workato as the integration layer and Snowflake as the analytics foundation for KPI reporting and AI-driven insights.

As each new OpCo is acquired, this role governs the technical onboarding assessing legacy systems, coordinating partner-led implementations, and ensuring every company lands on the standardized stack with clean data, functioning integrations, and teams who can actually use the tools. The mandate is operational continuity and adoption first; analytics and AI follow once the foundation is solid.

This is a hands-on ownership role. You are the person who knows how every integration works, catches problems before partners do, and progressively reduces our dependency on outside help.

Responsibilities

  • Partner Oversight & Governance Own the technical relationship across all implementation partners for Sage Intacct, BuildOps, Miter, and Ramp attending configuration sessions, reviewing API and data model decisions, and ensuring every buildout aligns to the multi-tenant architecture. Challenge partner recommendations that optimize for a single entity but break at portfolio scale. Review and sign off on deliverables before go-live: field mappings, migration outputs, MERGE logic, and UAT results.
  • Integration Ownership Deeply understand the full integration stack BuildOps REST/JSON API, Sage Intacct XML API, Miter, and Ramp including how data flows through Workato into the Snowflake schema. Own the Workato recipe layer: watermark management, MERGE upsert patterns, soft-delete handling, dependency sequencing, and audit logging. Document everything partners build so we can maintain and extend without external help as the default posture.
  • Debugging & Pipeline Health Be the first line of diagnosis when pipelines break or data is wrong isolate whether the failure is in the source API, Workato recipe logic, watermark drift, or Snowflake schema before engaging partner support. Monitor pipeline health proactively: recipe failure rates, data freshness, row-count anomalies, and delta lag across all active OpCo tenants. Hold partners accountable to resolution SLAs with documented issue logs.
  • Acquisition Onboarding For each new OpCo, coordinate the technical onboarding sequence tenant provisioning, legacy data extraction, schema mapping, Workato recipe activation, and Snowflake initial load validation. Assess legacy systems before partners engage so scope and cost are controlled. Build internal runbooks from each onboarding so the playbook tightens and partner dependency shrinks with every acquisition.
  • Snowflake & Analytics Layer Own the Snowflake environment as an internal asset: schema governance, role and warehouse management, service account hygiene, and DDL version control. Ensure Workato pipelines feed clean, reconciled data into the analytics layer once each OpCo is live. This is not a partner deliverable it is internal infrastructure you operate directly.
  • AI & Applied Innovation we are data- and AI-forward, and this role is where that becomes tangible. Identify high-impact use cases across the portfolio and design, prototype, and ship AI-based tools operational copilots, automated reporting, anomaly detection, forecasting built on the reconciled Snowflake foundation. Move proof-of-concepts to production where they prove value, partner with OpCo teams on adoption, and establish practical guardrails for data quality, security, and responsible AI use as capabilities scale.

Required Qualifications

  • 5 8 years of hands-on experience in systems integration, data engineering, or solutions architecture with ownership of production pipelines
  • Deep practical experience with an iPaaS platform Workato strongly preferred including recipe design, error handling, watermark management, and authentication patterns
  • API integration experience with ERP and FSM platforms Sage Intacct (XML API) and BuildOps preferred, or directly comparable enterprise systems
  • Strong SQL and Snowflake experience: schema design, DDL version control, role management, and incremental load patterns
  • Experience designing or maintaining multi-tenant data architectures across multiple business entities
  • Proven ability to govern third-party implementation partners: reviewing deliverables, holding vendors to SLAs, and documenting resolution
  • Clear written and verbal communication able to explain integration and data decisions to finance, operations, and executive stakeholders without jargon

Preferred

  • Experience in a PE-backed, roll-up, or multi-entity operating environment
  • Familiarity with commercial construction, roofing, or field service operations
  • Experience with Miter, Ramp, or comparable payroll and spend-management platforms
  • Exposure to AI/ML workloads on Snowflake LLM APIs, agentic frameworks, or applied analytics
  • Workato Automation Pro, SnowPro Core, or comparable certifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
