Summary

Business Technology Integrators (BTI) is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) with more than 25 years of experience delivering innovative and reliable IT and engineering solutions to the Federal Government. BTI supports mission-critical programs across defense and civilian agencies, with core expertise in cybersecurity, program management, enterprise IT, and technical oversight services.

BTI is currently searching for a Full Stack Engineer/API Specialist to fulfill the roles and responsibilities below:
Roles and Responsibilities
As a Full Stack Engineer / API Specialist, the primary responsibility is to design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performing web applications and APIs that support the end-to-end functionality of the EFAST system, spanning front-end user interfaces, back-end services, and seamless integration with third-party systems.

This role involves collaborating closely with product owners, data engineers, UX designers, system architects, and external partners to deliver cohesive solutions that meet business requirements and adhere to modern software engineering and API governance standards. Full Stack Engineer / API Specialists are responsible for building and optimizing application components across the full technology stack, defining API specifications, ensuring data security and quality, and optimizing both application and API performance.

They are expected to apply best practices in secure coding, RESTful and SOAP service development, and performance optimization throughout the software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.

Additionally, this role requires staying current with emerging technologies, modern programming languages, and industry trends to continuously improve application capabilities, API processes, and development practices. Collaboration with cross-functional teams to support modernization goals, enforce data quality standards, implement API governance strategies, and contribute to architecture decisions is a critical aspect of this role.Experience/Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate college degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, information technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in full stack application development and API development, integration, and management, with demonstrated proficiency across the full software development lifecycle.
  • Strong proficiency in modern programming languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, or TypeScript,
and front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js.
  • Experience with back-end frameworks and technologies such as Node.js, Spring Boot, Django, or FastAPI for building scalable server-side applications and RESTful and SOAP APIs.
  • Proficiency in API development and testing tools such as Swagger, Postman, or similar platforms, including experience with API lifecycle management and governance practices.
  • Familiarity with API management platforms (e.g., Apigee, AWS API Gateway) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), including deploying and managing applications in cloud or hybrid environments.
  • Proficiency in modern relational and non-relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB), including data modeling, query optimization, and database management.
  • Knowledge of application and API security best practices, including secure coding standards, authentication and authorization protocols (e.g., OAuth, JWT), and vulnerability remediation techniques.
  • Experience with data privacy and security standards, API governance practices, and best practices for ensuring secure and reliable data exchange between systems.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git), CI/CD pipelines, and DevSecOps practices to support automated testing, integration, and continuous deployment.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and the ability to integrate AI/ML capabilities into application workflows where applicable.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, agile team environment and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
