Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and manage virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) solutions.
  • Provide technical direction to systems engineers and administrators.
  • Review and approve configuration changes, patching strategies, and upgrades.
  • Lead root cause analysis for critical outages or performance degradation.
  • Ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity policies, STIG implementation, and Risk Management Framework (RMF) requirements.
  • Support ATO processes and audit readiness activities.
  • Implement secure configuration baselines and hardening procedures.
  • Support secure virtualization across classified environments (e.g., SIPR, JWICS, or equivalent).
  • Oversee day-to-day virtualization operations to ensure 24/7 mission availability.
  • Implement backup, disaster recovery, and continuity of operations (COOP) capabilities.
  • Coordinate maintenance windows and minimize operational disruption.
  • Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and technical documentation.

Required Qualifications
  • Active Top Secret clearance (SCI eligibility strongly preferred).
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred).
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in systems engineering or virtualization.
  • Deep expertise in:
    • VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter
    • VDI solutions (Horizon or equivalent)
    • Storage integration (SAN/NAS, iSCSI, Fibre Channel)
    • Virtual networking (vSwitches, distributed switches, NSX preferred)
    • High availability (HA), DRS, clustering, and failover architectures
  • Experience supporting classified DoD environments.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • RMF and ATO processes
    • DISA STIGs
    • Zero Trust principles
    • Backup and disaster recovery solutions

Certifications (Preferred / Desired)

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting INDOPACOM or Pacific defense operations.
  • Experience with hyperconverged platforms (e.g., Dell VxRail, Nutanix).
  • Familiarity with container platforms and virtualization convergence strategies.
  • Experience with automation and infrastructure-as-code practices.
  • Prior experience transitioning experimental or development environments into operational sustainment.
