Forward Deployed Engineering Director (Global) Hybrid - Santa Clara, CA
About the Role This role combines technical leadership, consulting, and customer engagement to scale a high-impact Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) function globally.
You'll lead and grow a team of FDEs who partner with enterprise customers to solve complex hiring and upskilling challenges through scalable, skills-based solutions.
As a Manager of Forward Deployed Engineering, you'll set the strategy, standards, and execution bar for the team.
You'll work closely with Sales, Product, Engineering, and Customer Success to design and deliver solutions that are both technically robust and highly impactful.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll actively engage in architecture, integrations, and customer-facing delivery while building repeatable systems that scale.
What You'll Do
Lead, coach, and grow a team of Forward Deployed Engineers supporting customer engagements across pre- and post-sales.
Partner with Sales, Product, Engineering, and Customer Success to design solutions that address real customer needs.
Provide hands-on technical leadership across APIs, integrations, and platform capabilities.
Elevate how demos, proofs of concept, and onsite engagements are executed across the team.
Build and implement scalable playbooks, delivery standards, and best practices.
Collaborate with Product and Engineering to translate customer needs into roadmap priorities.
Partner with regional leaders (EMEA and APAC) to ensure alignment and consistency across global teams.
Who You Are
A seasoned technical leader with 8+ years of experience in engineering, solutions engineering, or technical delivery, and 2+ years managing high-performing technical teams.
Hands-on and highly engaged, comfortable reviewing designs, challenging assumptions, and stepping in on complex or high-stakes problems.
Experienced in leading customer-facing technical teams where success depends on credibility, clarity, and execution.
Fluent across technical and business contexts, able to engage deeply with engineers while aligning with business stakeholders.
A strong communicator and presenter who can effectively tailor messaging to both technical and non-technical audiences. Even Better If You Have
Experience as a Forward Deployed Engineer, Solutions Engineer, or Technical Consultant.
Background in developer tools, HR tech, or API-first SaaS platforms.
Experience working in globally distributed or matrixed organizations.

Compensation
Base salary range: $250k-$350k
Target bonus: 15% annually based on individual and company performance.
This range does not include equity (stock options) or additional benefits for which you may be eligible.
