Summary

Job Title: Lead Data Engineer
Location: Jersey City, NJ
We are looking for an experienced Lead Data Engineer to join a growing data engineering team supporting enterprise data modernization initiatives within the Insurance and Financial Services domain. This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you'll design and build scalable cloud-based data solutions while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality data platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and optimize end-to-end data pipelines using PySpark, Snowflake, Python, and AWS.
  • Build scalable ETL/ELT solutions and data warehouse models to support enterprise analytics.
  • Lead cloud data migration and modernization initiatives from legacy platforms.
  • Develop and optimize complex SQL queries, data transformations, and data quality frameworks.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Coordinate with onshore and offshore engineering teams to ensure timely project delivery.
  • Conduct code reviews, mentor team members, and promote engineering best practices.
  • Troubleshoot performance issues and continuously improve the reliability and scalability of data pipelines.
Required Skills & Experience:
  • 6 9 years of experience in Data Engineering.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake, including data modeling and performance optimization.
  • Expertise in AWS services such as S3, Glue, Lambda, EMR, Redshift, Step Functions, and CloudWatch.
  • Strong experience with Apache Spark / PySpark, Python, and advanced SQL.
  • Solid understanding of data warehouse design methodologies such as Kimball, Inmon, Data Vault, Star Schema, and Snowflake Schema.
  • Experience with cloud migration and legacy data modernization projects.
  • Familiarity with orchestration tools such as dbt, Apache Airflow, AWS Glue, or similar platforms.
  • Experience working in Insurance, Financial Services, or other regulated industries is preferred.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and technical leadership skills.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
