Summary

We are seeking an experienced Controls Technician for a long-term, full-time, direct hire role with the leading Commercial/Industrial HVAC-R company in Atlanta, GA.
Pay: $35-50/H depending on experience

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8 am-5 pm EST. This role may require occasional overnight travel (less than 25%) within the Southeast region of GA and AL.

Position Summary
The Controls Technician will play a dynamic and critical role in both the installation of new building automation systems and the ongoing service, planned maintenance, and retrofit of existing systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities for Controls Technician:
  • Perform installation, programming, integration, and repair of building management systems (BMS), including service, planned maintenance, and retrofits.
  • Lead or assist in the installation and commissioning of new building automation systems on project sites, working closely with project managers and other technicians to ensure timely and successful completion.
  • Contribute to retrofit projects, involving the replacement of old control systems with new, non-proprietary solutions.
  • Conduct "point-to-point" checkouts and terminate low-voltage connections.
  • Perform routine and complex service calls to diagnose and repair issues with building management systems.
  • Execute planned maintenance activities on a scheduled basis to ensure optimal system performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain and repair low-voltage wiring, equipment, and devices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to controls, networks, field devices, and integrated systems.
  • Load programs in field controllers and run BACnet MS/TP and BACnet IP communication networks.
  • Support third-party equipment integrations.
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with all customers and company employees, ensuring high customer satisfaction.
  • Inform sales and management of qualified leads for new construction, service, maintenance, and retrofit opportunities.
  • Efficiently manage time and productivity by planning, scheduling, and communicating all work assignments.
  • Complete all required company documentation and reporting in a timely manner.

Qualifications for Controls Technician:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in building automation or HVAC controls industry, with a demonstrated ability to learn and adapt to new technology.
  • Tridium AX or N4 Certification highly preferred but not required.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
Required Skills:
  • Strong understanding of commercial/industrial HVAC fundamentals, mechanical equipment (CHW, HW, AHU, VAV, CV-PKG), and controls systems.
  • Working knowledge of BACnet systems and experience with Distech Controls, Tridium Niagara, and Schneider Electric controls.
  • Proficiency in electrical fundamentals and using a digital multi-meter.
  • Ability to read and understand control and mechanical drawings.
  • Excellent rapport-building skills to foster a positive experience for customers and colleagues.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically in high-pressure situations.
  • Proficiency in interpreting HVAC mechanical plans and specifications as they relate to Direct Digital Controls.
