Tier 3 Systems Engineer

Location: Redwood City, CA (onsite, full-time)

Role Overview

We are seeking a Tier 3 Systems Engineer to lead advanced systems administration, infrastructure support, and project-driven IT implementation across the internal environment. This role is fully onsite and requires a senior-level engineer who can design, deploy, secure, and support complex environments while serving as the escalation point for all Tier 1/Tier 2 technicians.

This individual will be responsible for solution architecture, systems reliability, and long-term IT improvements that align with business needs.

Experience

• 5 8+ years of progressive IT engineering experience
• Strong background across Windows, macOS, cloud services, virtualization, and automation
• Experience working in multiple technical environments (MSPs or multi-tenant environments strongly preferred)
• Proven experience leading or owning system-wide IT projects from planning to implementation

Core Technical Skills

Systems & Infrastructure

• Microsoft 365, Azure AD, Exchange Online administration
• Windows Server (2012 2019), Group Policy, DNS/DHCP
• Identity lifecycle management, SSO, conditional access
• Virtualization (VMware or Hyper-V)

Device & Application Management

• Mac & Windows fleet management
• Mobile Device Management (MDM): Intune, JAMF, or Mosyle
• Application packaging, deployment, and compliance management

Automation & Scripting

• PowerShell (required)
• Bash, Python, or equivalent automation experience (preferred)
• Ability to build scripts for provisioning, patching, reporting, or process automation

Security

• Endpoint security tooling
• Hardening standards
• Vulnerability management and remediation

Tools

• ConnectWise Manage/Automate, Jira/Confluence
• Monitoring, alerting, and patch management systems
• Familiarity with JSON, XML, or API-driven workflows

Bonus Skills

• Cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform)
• Networking fundamentals (VPN, VLANs, firewalls)
