JOB SUMMARY:
This role spans infrastructure-as-code (CloudFormation), full-stack development (Python, PHP, JavaScript/React), and deep debugging/tracing across distributed environments. The role includes broader operations support—root cause analysis, system behavior investigation, and cross-platform issue resolution. Ideal candidates are strong generalists who can switch fluidly between coding, infrastructure reasoning, and system analysis.
Responsibilities:
Develop internal React/JavaScript applications that present system flows, lineage, and platform interactions.
Analyze CloudFormation templates, service definitions, and backend code to map data paths and dependencies.
Trace execution behavior across Python, PHP, and JavaScript systems to understand logic, failures, and inter-service communication.
Apply micropatterns and sound OOP practices to produce clean, modular, maintainable code across multiple codebases.
Perform debugging and tracing across distributed systems, identifying defects and root causes spanning infrastructure, APIs, and application logic.
Support operational reliability by diagnosing issues, proposing fixes, and collaborating with partner teams to resolve cross-functional problems.
Build and refine internal tooling that helps engineering teams better understand data pipelines, reporting flows, and API integrations.
Document findings, system mappings, and architectural insights clearly for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Key Skill Requirements (Weighted Focus): The role requires broad generalist capability, with emphasis distributed across the following areas:
CloudFormation & Infrastructure-as-Code (~20%) — Ability to interpret, trace, and reason about IaC, dependencies, and resource interactions.
Debugging & System Tracing (~20%) — Strong diagnostic skills across distributed systems, unfamiliar codebases, and multi-layer architectures.
Micropatterns / Clean Code (~15%) — Practical application of small-scale design patterns and maintainable code practices.
Object-Oriented Programming (~15%) — Solid understanding of OOP concepts across multiple languages and platforms.
Python (~15%) — Ability to read, modify, and extend backend or automation scripts.
PHP (~10%) — Competence in tracing and understanding PHP-based services.
JavaScript / React (~10%) — Ability to build or modify UI components using component-based patterns (Material UI experience a plus). Additional expectations:
Strong ability to reverse-engineer system behavior through logs, code, and infrastructure artifacts.
Comfort working across multiple technologies rather than specializing in one.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for documenting findings and explaining system behavior.
Education/Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience preferred.
3–5+ years of experience across software engineering, infrastructure, or platform-oriented roles. • Familiarity with distributed systems is beneficial.
