Position Summary & Responsibilities:

Position Summary:

This Engineering Technician Associate position is the entry level for the Engineering Technician class series. This position is located in Topeka, at the Materials Lab, and is within the Construction and Materials. This Engineering Technician Associate will help to train other Engineering Technicians in conducting standard test procedures according to national standard methods or Kansas Department of Transportation Test Methods.

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
  • Assist in testing samples submitted to the subsection on Performance Graded Asphalt Binders, Cutback Asphalts, Emulsified Asphalts, Asphalt Rejuvenating Agents, and other related materials. Assist in testing samples of Hot Joint Sealing Compounds, Asphalt Cores, and Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement (RAP).
  • Assist in checking, calibrating and maintaining the testing equipment in the subsection.
  • Reviews specifications and procedures along with the supervisor to determine that laboratory procedures are in keeping with the latest revisions of the applicable specifications and procedures.
  • Attends and completes all Core and Laboratory required training as specific by the Engineering Technician Training Manual (progression from ETA, ET, to ET Senior).
