Job Description - Senior Varicent ICM/SPM Developer

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Varicent ICM/SPM Developer with strong expertise in designing, developing, configuring, and supporting enterprise Incentive Compensation Management solutions.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Varicent Composer, Reports, Dashboards, Scorecards, and Calculation Manager, along with strong SQL, data modeling, ETL, and enterprise application integration skills.

The candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining compensation applications, commission calculation models, incentive plans, data integrations, and reporting solutions. The role also requires a strong understanding of sales compensation processes, including quotas, territories, crediting rules, and commission structures.

Key Responsibilities

1. Varicent Development & Configuration

• Design, develop, configure, and maintain Varicent ICM/SPM applications.

• Build and enhance compensation models, calculation logic, workflows, and business rules.

• Configure incentive compensation plans, commission structures, quotas, territories, and credit assignment rules.

• Develop and maintain Varicent Composer components, reports, dashboards, scorecards, and Calculation Manager configurations.

• Manage Varicent application administration, enhancements, and ongoing support.

2. Incentive Compensation Management

• Implement and maintain commission calculation models and incentive compensation processes.

• Understand and translate business requirements related to sales compensation, incentive plans, quota management, and crediting rules.

• Ensure accurate calculation, validation, reconciliation, and reporting of commissions and payouts.

• Troubleshoot compensation discrepancies and calculation errors.

3. Data Engineering & Integration

• Develop and maintain ETL processes, data models, and automated data-loading workflows.

• Build and support inbound and outbound data interfaces between Varicent and enterprise applications.

• Integrate Varicent with systems such as Salesforce, SAP, Oracle, Workday, and other business platforms.

• Perform data analysis, validation, reconciliation, and troubleshooting.

• Optimize SQL queries and database performance to support large-scale compensation processing.

4. Performance, Security & Production Support

• Monitor and optimize Varicent application performance, calculation processes, and data workflows.

• Implement security configurations, access controls, and governance standards.

• Investigate and resolve application issues, data discrepancies, and performance bottlenecks.

• Provide production support and ensure system reliability and data accuracy.

• Identify opportunities to improve application scalability, maintainability, and operational efficiency.

5. Testing, Deployment & Release Management

• Support unit testing, System Integration Testing (SIT), and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

• Manage application deployments, configuration changes, and production releases.

• Follow SDLC, release management, and DevOps best practices.

• Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and Agile/Scrum ceremonies.

• Maintain technical documentation, solution designs, support runbooks, and deployment procedures.

6. Stakeholder Collaboration & Technical Leadership

• Collaborate with business stakeholders, Sales Operations teams, Product Owners, and cross-functional technical teams.

• Analyze complex business requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.

• Provide technical guidance and act as a Varicent Subject Matter Expert (SME).

• Mentor junior developers and support development initiatives.

• Drive continuous improvement and recommend best practices for Varicent implementations.

Required Technical Skills

Varicent ICM / SPM

• Extensive hands-on experience with Varicent ICM/SPM development, configuration, administration, and support.

• Strong expertise in Varicent Composer, Reports, Dashboards, Scorecards, and Calculation Manager.

• Understanding of Varicent architecture, application workflows, and security models.

• Experience developing compensation applications, calculations, and workflows.

Incentive Compensation Domain

• Strong understanding of Incentive Compensation Management (ICM).

• Experience with commission calculations, compensation plans, quotas, territories, and crediting rules.

• Knowledge of sales performance management and compensation processes.

SQL & Data Engineering

• Advanced proficiency in SQL and relational databases.

• Experience with database design, data modeling, ETL development, and data analysis.

• Strong understanding of data validation, reconciliation, and performance optimization.

Enterprise Integrations

• Hands-on experience integrating Varicent with Salesforce, SAP, Oracle, Workday, or other enterprise applications.

• Experience developing and supporting inbound/outbound interfaces and automated data loads.

Development & Delivery

• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and SDLC processes.

• Knowledge of release management, DevOps practices, testing, and deployment processes.

• Strong troubleshooting and production support capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting large-scale enterprise Varicent implementations.

• Experience leading Varicent development initiatives or technical workstreams.

• Knowledge of enterprise sales operations and incentive compensation processes.

• Experience working with cross-functional business and technology teams.
