Mechanical Engineering Analyst for a
CONTRACT-TO-HIRE assignment with one of our premier
Management Consulting clients in
Chicago, IL.
Responsibilities:
One of SGA's fortune 500 clients is looking for an Mechanical Engineering Analyst for a long-term hybrid contract-to-hire position (3 days onsite out of Chicago, IL). As a Mechanical Engineering Analyst, you will play a key part in evaluating and driving client growth and sustainability opportunities. You will work with teams to guide the creation of our clients' current and future portfolio as well as driving productivity and innovation across their various functions including engineering, procurement, and product management. You will typically work in teams of 2 - 3 other analysts and experts. You may often be collocated at a client site with other consultants responsible for the diagnosis, analysis, and implementation of business initiatives tailored to help our clients improve margins and reduce costs. Working closely with client stakeholders is key to establish buy-in and grow client capabilities. The ownership of individual work and ability to create impact as an individual is necessary to be successful.
Quintessential analyses include:
- Reverse engineering of products and services
- Determination of critical product or materials specifications and feature/attribute comparisons
- Product cost modeling for design and procurement outcomes
- You will gain exposure across several industries and clients including:
- Consumer electronics
- Automotive
- Aerospace
- Global energy and materials
- Light/heavy industrial
- Medical
In addition, you will work in cooperation with our worldwide network of consultants to shape the firm's thinking in this area, continuously developing your own knowledge, as well as that of the Firm. You will be working with the firm's Design Labs as part of the Operations practice. Our Operations practice assists our clients in solving complex operational challenges. Blending strategic thinking with hands-on practicality, our teams work to develop and implement operational strategies that solve our clients' most critical problems. The Design Labs work closely with our clients and teams on an integrative approach to product development and procurement that considers what customers want, what competitors offer, and what it costs to manufacture and distribute the end-product. The team uses several key tools and software integrated with personal experience to deliver impact across several product development and procurement levers including product matrix optimization, complexity reduction, design for manufacturing/assembly, and commercial excellence.
Skills: - 2+ years of mechanical design and manufacturing experience in roles such as R&D, testing, prototyping, and systems integration preferred. Experience with Tier 1 and 2 automotive suppliers, high-tech hardware companies, or other advanced manufacturing organizations preferred.
- Knowledge and experience in mechanical system and component design.
- Familiarity with CAD and simulation tools such as SolidWorks
- Proficient communicator , capable of working in multinational environments; self-motivated and proactive.
- Willingness/ability to travel to co-locate with cross-functional teams and clients.
- Ability to contribute individually or as part of a collaborative team , comfortable working autonomously with minimal direction when needed.
- Experience initiating projects, managing multiple priorities, and working effectively in ambiguous or fast-changing environments.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented individual.
- Excellent presentation skills , able to clearly communicate complex mechanical concepts and design rationale.
- Creative and strategic thinker with strong analytical abilities for interpreting and synthesizing technical data.
- NCEES certificate in the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) or Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in mechanical engineering preferred.
Education: - A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or analogous technical degree required; Top programs preferred (E.g., MIT, Stanford, UC Berkeley, Caltech, and Georgia Tech
- Strong record of academic performance; minimum GPA = 3.4
