The User-to-Role Mapping Lead is responsible for executing end user access mapping activities across Finance, Supply Chain, and HXM systems within the SAP transformation program (including SAP S/4HANA, SAP Ariba, and SuccessFactors). This role ensures that end users receive the correct system access required for future state business processes and collaborates closely with Security, Functional, HRBP, and Business teams to validate, monitor, and govern role assignments. This position plays a critical role in supporting security design, role readiness, training preparation, and cutover activities by maintaining accurate and complete user to role mapping data.
Responsibilities
User-to-Role Mapping Execution
Conduct user to role mapping activities across Finance, Supply Chain, and HXM systems (e.g., SAP S/4HANA, SAP Ariba, SuccessFactors).
Validate that end users have the appropriate access to perform tasks in the future state environment.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Liaise with security and functional teams to confirm role design, access requirements, and alignment to business processes.
Coordinate with business stakeholders—including department leaders, SMEs, and HRBPs—to validate access assignments and secure necessary approvals.
Stakeholder Engagement & Facilitation
Engage business leaders across the organization to help them understand the future state SAP role landscape, including business roles, security roles, and associated permissions.
Facilitate discussions with business stakeholders to validate and confirm that user to role assignments accurately reflect each employee’s responsibilities.
Provide clear guidance and support to business teams as they review, challenge, and finalize role assignments.
Governance & Issue Resolution
Monitor progress of role mapping activities and proactively flag discrepancies, unique access needs, or potential access gaps.
Support the resolution of Segregation of Duties (SoD) concerns in partnership with Security and Compliance teams.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate, centralized documentation of role mapping decisions, tracking tools, and mapping status.
Prepare periodic updates and readiness reporting for program leadership, highlighting risks, stakeholder actions, and required decisions.
Integration with Training, Testing, and Cutover
Partner with Training teams to ensure business roles and user mappings align with training plans and course assignments.
Support testing cycles by ensuring mapped users have appropriate access for role based test scenarios.
Contribute to cutover readiness by ensuring user access is validated and complete prior to go live.
Qualifications
Required
Experience with ERP role mapping, access provisioning, or security design (SAP strongly preferred).
Working knowledge of SAP S/4HANA security concepts, Fiori catalogs, and/or SuccessFactors role structures.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage large datasets and mapping trackers.
Ability to coordinate effectively across Security, Functional, HRBP, and Business teams.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong ability to engage business leaders across the organization, to explain the SAP future state role landscape in a clear and accessible way and to guide stakeholders through role mapping concepts, helping them understand how business roles and security roles link to job responsibilities and access needs.
Comfortable resolving questions, navigating organizational dynamics, and driving alignment between business and technical teams during role mapping cycles.
Preferred
Experience supporting SAP transformation programs within large organizations.
Familiarity with GRC tools, access workflows, or security governance processes.
Understanding of Segregation of Duties (SoD) controls and access risk mitigation.
