About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Systems Engineer to join a leading renewable energy company focused on delivering sustainable power solutions. This role is part of a small, collaborative technology team responsible for building secure, scalable, and resilient infrastructure that supports business growth. You will work closely with Systems Operations, Security, DevOps, and Network Engineering teams to ensure environments are reliable, cost-efficient, and optimized for long-term success.
Job Description
As an Infrastructure Systems Engineer, you will design, implement, and maintain core infrastructure platforms across AWS and VMware environments. This position requires hands-on expertise in cloud and virtualization technologies, troubleshooting complex issues, and driving operational excellence. You will also manage identity services, support hybrid networking strategies, and contribute to automation and documentation efforts that improve system reliability and reduce manual work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Architect, implement, and support AWS infrastructure services for scalability and performance.
- Administer and optimize VMware vCenter environments, including ESXi hosts, clusters, storage, and virtual networking.
- Troubleshoot infrastructure issues across compute, storage, and network layers.
- Design and maintain AWS and VMware networking configurations (VPCs, subnets, VLAN/VDS, security groups, hybrid connectivity).
- Collaborate with Network Engineering on cloud and on-prem connectivity, routing, and access control.
- Support Windows and Linux server environments, including OS configuration and performance tuning.
- Manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and related identity services.
- Develop documentation, runbooks, diagrams, and automation scripts to enhance operational maturity.
- Contribute to broader systems engineering initiatives aligned with technology strategy.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience supporting production AWS and VMware vCenter environments.
- Strong knowledge of AWS services, cloud networking, IAM, and architectural best practices.
- Expertise in VMware networking, ESXi management, HA/DRS configuration, and storage integrations.
- Hands-on experience with Windows Server and Linux systems administration.
- Proficiency with Active Directory, DNS, and core infrastructure services.
- Ability to script or automate using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar tools.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
- AWS Solutions Architect certification (Associate or higher).
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or equivalent.
- Experience with Infoblox for DNS/DHCP/IPAM management.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Knowledge of Okta, hybrid identity, SSO/IAM architecture, and device-trust models.
- Experience with monitoring tools (Datadog, CloudWatch, VMware Aria, Elastic).
- Broader systems administration experience (patching, configuration management, CI/CD, MDM, containerization).
