Summary

Job Title: Principal PCB Design Engineer – Semiconductor & Signal Integrity

Location: Newport Beach, Irvine 100% onsite

Position Overview:
We are seeking a Principal PCB Design Engineer with deep experience in semiconductor hardware systems and signal integrity (SI) simulations. The ideal candidate will lead the design and development of complex, high-speed PCBs, ensuring optimal performance, manufacturability, and reliability. This is a leadership role requiring both technical expertise and the ability to guide and mentor a team of engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end PCB design process, from concept, schematic review, and layout to validation and production release.

  • Perform signal integrity (SI) simulations for high-speed interfaces to ensure reliable operation under real-world conditions.

  • Collaborate with ASIC, FPGA, and system teams to define design requirements, constraints, and performance targets.

  • Develop and enforce PCB design standards, best practices, and guidelines across projects.

  • Troubleshoot complex design challenges, including high-speed signal issues, power delivery concerns, and EMI/EMC compliance.

  • Mentor and provide technical leadership to junior and mid-level PCB design engineers.

  • Select appropriate materials, PCB stack-ups, and components for high-performance semiconductor designs.

  • Ensure that designs meet industry standards, reliability, and regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or related field.

  • Extensive experience in PCB design for semiconductor systems, preferably at a principal or senior level.

  • Proven expertise in signal integrity (SI) simulations using tools such as HyperLynx, Ansys SIwave, or equivalent.

  • Hands-on experience with high-speed digital and mixed-signal PCB layouts.

  • Proficiency with PCB design tools such as Cadence Allegro, Mentor Graphics, or Altium Designer.

  • In-depth knowledge of high-speed interfaces such as DDR, PCIe, SerDes, USB, and Ethernet.

  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with power integrity (PI) simulations and analysis.

  • Understanding of EMI/EMC mitigation strategies in PCB design.

  • Knowledge of thermal management and mechanical constraints in PCB design.

  • Experience with multi-layer, high-density PCBs for advanced semiconductor applications.
