We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Junior AI Engineer to join our dynamic team, focusing on developing and implementing cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence solutions on the Microsoft Azure cloud platform. This entry-level role is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about AI and eager to contribute to impactful projects under the guidance of experienced AI Developer Managers and senior engineers. The Junior AI Engineer will assist in various stages of the AI development lifecycle, from developing python code utilizing various AI frameworks and Large Language Models (LLMs) to deployment of AI solutions and their monitoring.

As a member on the team, a candidate will be expected to:
  • Assist in the design, development, and deployment of AI/ML models and solutions on Microsoft Azure.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and data scientists to collect, clean, and preprocess data for AI model training
  • Contribute to the development of robust and scalable AI applications using Python and relevant AI/ML frameworks
  • Participate in the testing, debugging, and validation of AI solutions to ensure accuracy and performance.
  • Help maintain and monitor deployed AI solutions, identifying and resolving issues as they arise.
  • Learn and apply MLOps & LLMOps best practices for continuous integration, delivery, and deployment of AI solutions.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and data scientists to collect, clean, and preprocess data for AI model training.
  • Stay updated with the latest AI/ML technologies and Azure AI services through continuous learning and training
  • Implement and optimize AI algorithms and solutions under supervision.
  • Provide support for existing AI solutions and contribute to their improvement.
  • Be prepared to develop AI systems leveraging open-source frameworks such as: LangChain, AutoGen, LangGraph and LamaIndex.
  • Be willing to learn cloud automation concepts such as IAC with various tools
  • Be willing to learn cloud security concepts and principles
  • Participate in an agile (scrum) development process
Have proven aptitude in:
  • Python development skills utilizing standard development IDEs
  • DevOps including CI/CD techniques and tools such as Github repos
  • Some data science background and course work is desired
  • Have a good understanding of Generative AI and LLM models and principals
  • Have a good understanding of Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG)
  • Basic level cloud infrastructure understanding
Education required : Computer Science degree

Preferred education : Data Science specific graduate work, Finance sector experience or coursework.

Salary Range:
$88,900 - 151,100 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
