The Print Tool Technician is responsible for performing all duties outlined in this job description, as well as any additional assignments provided by the Prepress Graphics Manager, Lead, or Plant Manager. This role is essential to ensuring efficient printing production by guaranteeing that the appropriate tools are available when required by the press and by maintaining timely communication with the production team to minimize downtime.

Responsibilities:

  • Regular and predictable attendance, including logging in and out of time worked
  • Complies withall company and safety policies and procedures
  • Make flexographic/lithoplates
  • Make Rotary Screens
  • Responsible for the critical evaluation of all plates/screens made and completesappropriate QAcheck lists
  • Responsible formaintainingPlate and Screen Tracking Logs
  • Verifies information on Plate Envelope is correct
  • Responsible for cleaning andmaintainingplatemaking room/screen room and equipment
  • Responsible for completing preventive maintenance in accordance to set schedule and need
  • Coordinates plate priorities with Scheduling, Graphics Coordinator, or Graphics Supervisor
  • Maintains components-to-press schedules to understand priorities and mark completion of jobs or flags
  • Participate in continuous improvement / Kaizen teams
  • Attends department meetings and internal training classes
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • HS Diploma or GED isrequired; College degree strongly preferred, ideally related to the printing industry
  • Print manufacturing experience preferred
  • Technicalexpertiseinflexo, rotary screen and general printing processes
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical information into actionable tasks
  • Knowledge of color separations, press layouts, print specifications
  • Proficiencyin MS Office applications
  • Radius job management software experience is a plus
  • Ability to multi-task and work in afast-pacedenvironment
  • Self-starter with strong organizational and planning skills
  • Requires physical ability to climb stairs, bend, sit, stand, walk, reach with arms, push, pull and use hands and fingers to feel and handle material for extendedtime frames
  • Must haveabilityto lift and/or move up to 50 pounds repeatedly and regularly. Includes the ability to stoop, squat, crawl and kneel as needed
