What You'll Do
Are you a hands-on storage professional who thrives on keeping enterprise systems secure, reliable, and high performing?
As a Storage Engineer I, you'll support the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and monitoring of our enterprise storage and data protection platforms. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the availability, performance, and security of storage systems across on-premises and cloud-integrated environments.
Working closely with Server Operations, Database Administration, Cloud Operations, and Application teams, you'll provision storage, respond to incidents, and execute documented procedures under the guidance of senior engineers. You'll also contribute to maintenance activities, recovery testing, and continuous improvement efforts-all while building deeper technical expertise in a 24x7 support model.
The schedule for this position is:
Participation in a 24x7 support model, including on-call rotation and after-hours support as scheduled
Storage Provisioning & Administration - Perform provisioning and administrative tasks in alignment with documented standards to ensure reliable and efficient storage delivery.
Monitoring & Performance Management - Monitor storage and backup systems for availability, capacity, and performance; proactively identify and address potential issues.
Incident Response & Troubleshooting - Respond to alerts, incidents, and service requests related to storage and data protection, escalating complex issues to senior engineers or vendors when appropriate.
Backup, Restore & Recovery Support - Assist with backup operations, restore activities, ransomware response support, and recovery testing to strengthen data resilience.
Maintenance & Lifecycle Activities - Support firmware updates, system expansions, health checks, and other routine maintenance tasks to maintain platform integrity.
Change & Production Support - Execute Change Control Requests in compliance with established change, incident, and problem management processes; contribute to routine production maturity, capacity, and performance plans.
Cross-Team Collaboration - Partner with infrastructure and application teams to align storage services with business and application requirements.
Documentation & Operational Excellence - Maintain accurate configuration, procedural, and operational documentation to support scalability and knowledge sharing.
Automation & Continuous Improvement - Leverage scripting and basic automation techniques to improve efficiency and enhance the storage environment.
What You'll Bring
Education - bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Experience - 3+ years of overall technology experience, including 1+ year supporting major implementations within large-scale storage environments such as NetApp and Nutanix hyperconverged platforms.
Enterprise Storage Expertise - Working knowledge of Storage Area Network (SAN), Network Attached Storage (NAS), object storage, and backup systems across multi-vendor environments.
Platform & Tool Proficiency - Experience with technologies such as NetApp (Clustered ONTAP, AFF/FAS, SnapMirror, SnapVault), Nutanix (AHV, Prism), Nimble, Panzura, VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, and Rubrik; familiarity with monitoring tools like Grafana and security tools such as Nexpose and Kenna.
Cloud & Hybrid Knowledge - Exposure to Microsoft Azure and hybrid cloud storage architectures, including configuration and administration.
Automation & Scripting - Basic scripting experience (e.g., PowerShell) with the ability to automate routine storage and operational tasks.
Infrastructure Fundamentals - Ability to rack, stack, cable, and configure hardware; understanding of protocols such as CIFS, SMB, NFS, Fibre Channel, and iSCSI.
Security & Compliance Awareness - Experience supporting vulnerability remediation, patching, and protocol hardening to maintain a secure storage environment.
Process & Operational Discipline - Familiarity with Change Control Management policies and production support standards in enterprise environments.
Communication & Collaboration - Clear written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build strong cross-functional relationships and resolve issues constructively.
Accountability & Initiative - Demonstrated integrity, proactive problem-solving, and a commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
