Mainframe Programmer

job summary:

This is a remote position, but preference will be given to candidates located in the Eastern Time Zone.

The Mainframe Programmer will provide direct development, maintenance, and technical support for a mainframe based legacy tax management system.

responsibilities:

• Participate in requirements, design, development, testing, implementation, and maintenance support for a mainframe based legacy tax management system
• Work closely with other support team members to determine the best approach to resolve issues as part of day-to-day support of legacy system. Issue resolution will often require software changes and testing.
• Work closely with others as a team member in design, development and testing of legislative and operational changes to legacy system

qualifications:

- 10+ years of experience developing/maintaining mainframe based tax management systems using COBOL including Install/1 system management

- 10+ years of development experience with COBOL, EASYTRIEVE, MVS JCL, CICS, SQL and DB2 in a mainframe environment

- 5+ years of experience in Technical and Functional Requirements documentation

- Extensive knowledge of techniques and methodologies relating to software quality assurance and testing through the full systems development lifecycle.

- Databases: VSAM, DB2, IMS

- Environment: TSO/ISPF, z/OS, MVS, IMS, Windows

- Experience with troubleshooting and debugging mainframe application.
