Group/Division
With over 40 years of semiconductor process control experience, chipmakers around the globe rely on KLA to ensure that their fabs ramp next-generation devices to volume production quickly and cost-effectively. Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design, KLA's Global Products Group (GPG), which is responsible for creating all of KLA's metrology and inspection products, is looking for the best and the brightest research scientist, software engineers, application development engineers, and senior product technology process engineers. Central Engineering is KLA's largest engineering organization comprised of 9 Centers-of-Excellence (CoE) in various disciplines applied across all product groups in the company. These CoE include Handling & Automation, Precision Motion Control, Sensors & Image Acquisition, Platform Design, and Packaging Engineering, among others. Talent includes over 500 engineers across global centers in Israel, China, India, and the US. Each CoE contributes not just talent and deliverables per discipline toward product programs, but also subject matter expertise, best practices, roadmaps, specialized facilities, apparatus, models, and analytics. These differentiate KLA not only in WHAT we do, but also in HOW we do it.

Our team builds and develops sophisticated electromechanical assemblies that power high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructure for KLA products, enabling innovative image data processing. The engineering technician supports the development, deployment, and sustaining of image computer racks and power distribution solutions aligned with KLA's compute and infrastructure roadmaps. This role combines hands-on technical execution with systems-level understanding, supporting assembly build, subsystem integration, testing, documentation, and change management in a fast-paced engineering environment. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong ownership, hands-on assembly & problem-solving experience, interdisciplinary knowledge, and effective multi-functional communication.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the design, build, validation, deployment, and maintenance of rack-level electromechanical systems, including mechanical structures, PDUs, controls, cabling, and monitoring hardware.
  • Perform system assembly, integration, upgrades, testing, and problem solving, applying structured root-cause analysis to resolve issues and improve reliability.
  • Develop and implement test plans and procedures to support product validation, qualification, and compliance with electrical, thermal, acoustic, and regulatory requirements.
  • Analyze and document test results, providing recommendations to improve product performance, manufacturability, and release readiness through multi-functional collaboration.
  • Own and sustain Ann Arbor Rack Lab operations, including equipment readiness, tool calibration, inventory of consumables, and enforcement of 5S principles to maintain a safe, organized, and compliant lab environment.

Required Qualifications:
  • Hands-on expertise with rack-level or similar complex electromechanical infrastructure, power distribution systems, controls, cabling, and related hardware.
  • Proficiency interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and component specifications, developing test plans, and implementing validation and qualification testing.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
  • Experience supporting lab operations, and safety compliance (5S, EHS)
  • Ability to travel up to 30%

Desired Qualifications:
  • 5+ years' experience supporting hardware development, system integration, assembly, testing, and lab operations in electromechanical environments.
  • Ability to independently perform system bring-up, integration, problem solving, and root cause analysis across mechanical and electrical systems.
