This position is remote but candidates must reside in Virginia, North Carolina, or South Carolina to support regional customers and travel requirements.

Job DetailsWe are seeking a Controls Engineer with strong Distributed Control System (DCS) experience to support automation projects and ongoing customer operations throughout the region.
This individual will be responsible for designing, configuring, implementing, testing, and supporting DCS solutions for industrial manufacturing customers. The role requires a hands-on engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems while working directly with plant personnel, operations teams, and maintenance groups.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement DCS programming solutions for process control applications.
- Configure and support Foxboro, DeltaV, and/or Honeywell control platforms.
- Participate in control system upgrades, migrations, and modernization initiatives.
- Integrate DCS systems with plant-wide automation and control infrastructure.
- Perform system testing, validation, startup, and commissioning activities.
- Troubleshoot control system issues and provide technical support for customer operations.
- Train plant personnel on system functionality and best practices.
- Collaborate with customers, engineers, operators, and maintenance teams to improve system performance and reliability.
- Support both project execution and ongoing service-related activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 5+ years of Distributed Control System (DCS) programming experience.
- Experience with Foxboro systems is highly preferred.
- Experience with DeltaV and/or Honeywell platforms.
- Strong troubleshooting and commissioning experience.
- Ability to work directly with customers in industrial manufacturing environments.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Travel
- Travel typically ranges from 10%-25%.
- Most travel is planned in advance and tied to project commissioning, upgrades, or customer support activities.
Preferred Background
- Pulp and paper industry experience.
- Industrial process controls experience.
- Experience supporting system migrations or modernization projects.
- Familiarity with manufacturing operations, maintenance, and reliability initiatives.
