Summary

Contract, C2C. $55 to $59 per hour. Onsite in Boston five days per week. Local candidates only.

Our client, a leading Boston-based systematic investment manager, is hiring a full stack engineer to work on the internal platform their portfolio managers use to decompose positions, returns, and risk. This is not a maintenance seat. You will be building and extending a system that feeds live investment decisions, working directly alongside portfolio managers and quantitative researchers.

What you will work on:

Building and testing tooling that traces portfolio positions, returns, and risk back to the underlying alpha, risk, transaction cost, and liquidity models. Full stack development across Python, TypeScript, and React with a real emphasis on responsiveness and reliability under heavy data loads. Backend services in Python and Ray, designed for distributed, high-throughput processing against both relational and non-relational stores. API and data structure design where query speed directly affects whether a PM can act on what they are seeing. Consolidating reporting across multiple regions and strategies, including exception-based reporting for management. Feeding what you learn from the attribution system back into research on the investment process itself.

What we need to see:

Bachelor''s degree and four to six years of full stack development on production systems. Strong React and TypeScript, including component architecture, state management, and performance tuning for data-dense interfaces. Solid Python backend engineering with Ray, FastAPI, and Pandas or Polars, plus practical experience with distributed parallel computing and API design. Demonstrated work optimizing systems for scale and cloud deployment.

Nice to have: Material UI and MUI X, particularly for data grids and visualization. Exposure to portfolio decomposition, performance attribution, risk analysis, or quantitative equity strategies.

This is a small, execution-focused team. You should be comfortable owning work end to end and moving quickly with limited hand-holding.
