Description

Position Purpose :

Companion Data Services is seeking a Lead UI Developer to serve as the technical anchor for our DocFinity enterprise content management solution. In this role, you will bridge the gap between design and engineering, taking full ownership of the product lifecycle from initial requirements through deployment. As we transition our interface to React, you will act as a primary architect, balancing the implementation of modern front-end standards with the strategic maintenance of legacy systems. We are looking for someone who can drive UX/UI decisions, mentor team members, and ensure our enterprise software remains intuitive, accessible, and high performing.

Location:

This is a full-time (40 hours a week M-F) and fully on-site position located in either State College, PA, Dallas, TX or Columbia, SC.

What You'll Do :
  • Ensure team members understand the business requirements that drive the analysis and design of quality technical solutions, organizational standards are maintained, and applications are delivered according to project timeliness. Provide expert system knowledge, perform research, attend meetings, and review documents.
  • Maintain and modify programs according to specifications. Code, compile, and implement application software that is delivered on time and within budget. Evaluate basic interrelationships in immediate programming area to determine how changes in one program will affect another related area.
  • Test modified programs, create necessary test files and data, verify logic, debug, and write relevant documentation.
  • Analyze production systems, recommend systems enhancements, provide instruction to production support team. Research customer issues and determine appropriate resolutions. Coordinate implementation of modifications or enhancements.
  • Analyze and evaluate existing or proposed systems. Develop functional design and technical specifications, concept diagrams, and workflow diagrams and related procedures to process data using appropriate systems environment/platform. Document programs/procedures.


To Qualify for This Position, You'll Need the Following :

Required Education:
  • Bachelor's in a job related field


Degree Equivalency:
  • Associates degree plus an extra 2 years job related work experience for a total of 6 years of required work experience (see "required work experience")

OR
  • 8 total years required work experience.


Required Work Experience:
  • 4 years-of application development, systems testing or other job-related experience.


Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong understanding of applications/development, quality assurance and integration methodologies, concepts and facilities in a mainframe, midrange, web, and/or PC/LAN environment.
  • Strong analysis, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrates logical abstract thinking and assimilating/adhering to project goals and deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Able to work well under pressure and as part of a team.
  • Strong knowledge of interpersonal skills/team building.
  • Familiar with project management concepts.
  • Pays attention to detail.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, clients, vendors etc.


Required Software and Other Tools:
  • Strong knowledge of relevant operating systems, programming languages, and development tools and their usage in the company.


We Prefer That You Have the Following :
  • Solid understanding of Javascript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3.
  • Proficiency in React.js and its core principles, including React Hooks and state management libraries.
  • Understanding of RESTful APIs and integration with front-end applications.
  • Strong experience with Material-UI (MUI) for building responsive and accessible UI components.
  • Knowledge of WCAG accessibility guidelines, and experience designing and implementing those standards.
  • Knowledge of responsive and mobile-first design principles.
  • Experience with enterprise software, large data sets, and performance optimizations.
  • Familiarity with wireframe or prototype tools.
  • Experience conducting user research or usability testing.
  • Experience with modern build tools such as Webpack.
  • Experience working in Scrum/Agile development methodologies.
  • Source code control systems such as Git.
  • Familiarity with testing frameworks such as Cypress and Argos-ci.
  • Experience working on large scale web applications, including interaction with microservice architecture, databases, and cloud platforms.
  • Experience with large databases and complex SQL queries, using Microsoft SQL Server and/or Oracle.
  • DevOps engineering experience, with tools such as Azure, Github Actions, Docker, Gradle, and AWS.
