About the Role The Principal Consultant serves as a strategic architect and trusted senior advisor within Monks' Marketing Consulting practice. With deep marketing domain expertise and a proven ability to shape transformative client engagements, this role is responsible for leading high-value consulting portfolios, developing consulting teams, and advancing Monks' position as a forward-thinking, innovative partner.
Principal Consultants drive Monks' growth trajectory through a blend of delivery excellence, thought leadership, and strategic client development. This role is expected to lead multidisciplinary teams, develop compelling business cases, and deliver programs that impact the client's business at a systemic level. Unlike more execution-focused roles, the Principal Consultant operates at a portfolio and program level-creating value by aligning Monks' capabilities with client ambitions in a scalable, sustainable way.
Responsibilities: - Strategic Leadership & Client Development
- Serve as a senior advisor to clients, guiding strategic decision-making, marketing transformation, and in-housing initiatives.
- Lead the development of complex pitches, proposals, and high-impact business cases to drive new business and expand existing accounts.
- Own the lifecycle and health of strategic accounts, including delivery quality, margin optimization, client satisfaction, and long-term value creation.
- Shape account strategies, partnering with Account and Delivery Leads to align project execution with long-term client outcomes.
- Practice and Team Leadership
- Lead and mentor a team of consultants (Consultant through Lead Consultant), with a focus on capability development, coaching, and performance.
- Cast and orchestrate project teams across engagements to ensure strategic alignment and talent optimization.
- Act as a cultural and professional role model, actively contributing to the growth and reputation of the Marketing Consulting practice.
- Delivery Excellence & Program Oversight
- Provide oversight on multi-workstream engagements and programs, ensuring cross-functional alignment and integrated value delivery.
- Navigate complex stakeholder environments with diplomacy, building coalitions and fostering strategic consensus.
- Drive the successful execution of engagements while identifying and mitigating strategic and operational risks.
- Thought Leadership & Innovation
- Contribute to Monks' thought leadership through external artifacts (e.g., white papers, case studies, conference speaking) and internal enablement content.
- Stay ahead of market trends and industry innovations, proactively introducing new ideas, tools, and methods to elevate client work and Monks' offerings.
- Shape internal methodologies and delivery frameworks to improve quality and scalability of consulting services.
About You The essentials: - Demonstrated success in a senior marketing consulting or strategic advisory role, with a focus on AI, marketing transformation, operational design, or in-housing.
- Proven ability to manage strategic client relationships, shape engagements, and influence senior stakeholders.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary consulting teams with a focus on coaching, development, and collaboration.
- Advanced skills in business case development, stakeholder management, and organizational change.
- Ability to oversee complex programs with multiple interrelated workstreams and measurable client outcomes.
- Strong commercial acumen with a track record of growing client portfolios and improving delivery margins.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and storytelling skills; able to distill complexity and inspire confidence.
Not a must, but a plus: - Experience in rolling out AI or automation solutions for marketing operations, content production, or media services.
- Familiarity with cloud ecosystems (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud Platform) and technology implementation in marketing environments.
- Published or presented thought leadership in industry contexts (e.g., conferences, trade publications).
- Experience leading contract negotiations or commercial structuring for professional services.

Monks has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what Monks may pay for the position at the time of posting. Monks may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on job-related factors, but not based on a candidate's sex or any other protected status.

$170,000-$210,000 USD
