Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Accessibility Developer with strong expertise in React.js, JavaScript, and Next.js to build and enhance accessible, user-friendly web applications. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience implementing accessibility standards and ensuring compliance with WCAG, ADA, and other accessibility guidelines across modern web platforms.Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain accessible web applications using React.js, JavaScript (ES6+), and Next.js.
Ensure applications meet WCAG 2.1/2.2, ADA, and Section 508 accessibility standards.
Conduct accessibility audits and remediate accessibility issues across web applications.
Implement semantic HTML, ARIA attributes, keyboard navigation, focus management, and screen reader compatibility.
Collaborate with UX/UI designers, product owners, and development teams to embed accessibility best practices throughout the development lifecycle.
Perform accessibility testing using tools such as Axe, Lighthouse, WAVE, NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver.
Optimize application performance, responsiveness, and usability across browsers and devices.
Participate in code reviews and provide recommendations for accessibility improvements.
Create and maintain accessibility documentation, standards, and development guidelines.
Stay current with evolving accessibility regulations, standards, and industry best practices.Required Skills
5+ years of experience in front-end web development.
Strong proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+).
Hands-on experience with React.js and Next.js.
Deep understanding of HTML5, CSS3, and responsive web design.
Strong knowledge of Web Accessibility (A11Y) principles and standards.
Experience implementing WCAG 2.1/2.2, ADA, and Section 508 compliance requirements.
Experience with accessibility testing tools such as:
Axe DevTools
Lighthouse
WAVE
NVDA
JAWS
VoiceOver
Knowledge of ARIA roles, semantic markup, keyboard accessibility, and screen reader compatibility.
Familiarity with Git and Agile/Scrum development methodologies.Preferred Qualifications
Experience with TypeScript.
Accessibility certifications such as CPACC, WAS, or equivalent.
Experience working with design systems and component libraries.
Knowledge of automated accessibility testing frameworks and CI/CD integration.
Understanding of SEO best practices and web performance optimization.Education
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).Nice to Have
Experience with accessibility-focused design reviews.
Experience working in large-scale enterprise web applications.
Familiarity with cloud-based deployment environments and modern DevOps practices.
