Position Summary This position is part of a team providing engineering and technical support to the Ranges, Engineering, and Analysis Department at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) in Newport RI. This multi-disciplinary team is responsible for providing systems safety, environmental qualification testing, and range sustainment in support of undersea warfare systems. Candidates are highly desired with education and experience in technical fields.

- Rigging operations using overhead CAT-III cranes, handling gear, pallet jacks, rigging gear, chain falls, etc.
- Install interfacing, mounting, and connecting components required to test systems.
- Maintain, operate, and repair test equipment and machinery including, but not limited to, atmospheric chambers, shock and vibration machines, and mounting fixtures.
- Read, understand, and implement customer requirements for testing electrical and mechanical equipment.
- Operate both hand and machine power tools as needed while maintaining safety standards.
- Operate test machinery powered by hydraulic systems.
Required Education and Experience- Active DoD Secret clearance.
- High School Diploma /GED.
- Three (3) years of experience in the operation, maintenance, repair, and testing of shipboard or industrial electrical/fluid systems and components.
- Basic computer skills, including a working knowledge of the use of the Microsoft Office Suite including Work, Excel, and Outlook.
Preferred Education and Experience- Three (3) years of experience operating a CAT-III crane and rigging gear handling and CAT-III crane certification.
- Experience installing, maintaining, and operating hydraulic systems.
- Knowledge and understanding of test areas such as low impact shock, high impact shock, vibration, inclination, enclosure, pressure, airborne noise, structure-borne noise, temperature, and humidity.
- Experience as a machinist; setting up and operating machines such as drills, mills, lathes, and saws.

Additional Eligibility RequirementsWork Authorization/Security Clearance Requirement - This position requires the ability to obtain and/or maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance and required access to all worksite locations.

Supervisory Responsibility:Work Environment:This job operates in an industrial lab environment. This role routinely manual hand tools, power hand tools, basic machining tools, and specialized mechanical test equipment.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:The typical workday is eight hours in length. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, with concurrence from the supervisor. Attendance at prescheduled mandatory meetings is required. Must be available during the core work hours as determined by your contract/location and must account for the required number of hours in a pay period to maintain Full-time status.
Telework:Travel:- Ability to travel CONUS; potential to travel OCONUS.
