What You'll Do
The Network Operations Engineer role provides 24x7 support and operational availability of Kirkland's firm wide network infrastructure. Responsibilities include the implementation of new network technologies as well as day-to-day operations and change management of all deployed network technologies.
We are seeking talented and motivated professionals to join our team. The ideal candidates will possess strong attention to detail, a proactive mindset, and excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. At Kirkland & Ellis, you'll play a key role in our success by supporting a team that delivers exceptional service. Specifically, you will be responsible for:
Managing the firm wide enterprise network at Kirkland. This includes but is not limited to switching, routing, firewalls, load balancing, wireless, DNS, NTP, Windows and Linux server administration, authentication platforms such as Cisco ISE, TACACS, and OOB console switches.
Managing the cloud environments in OCI and MS Azure.
Experience with current WAN and LAN network standards and security best practices.
Experience with Cisco hardware platforms such as Catalyst 9000, Cisco ACI, Cisco ASR, F5 Big IP LTM/GTM/APM, Cisco FTD/FMC, and Illumio Core.
Ability to manage structured wiring, both copper and fiber optic.
Expertise with controller based wireless network standards and best practices, and the ability to monitor and troubleshoot these networks.
Basic scripting techniques and the ability to automate processes to implement and manage the network environment effectively.
Experience with support and implementation of Site to Site, SSL, and IPsec VPN remote access.
Experience with network management, alerting, and reporting tools such as Cisco FMC, Solarwinds NPM/NCM, Cisco Prime Infrastructure, Cisco DNA Center, Cisco Stealthwatch.
Experience with network protocol analysis tools such as wireshark and NetScout Ngenius.
Utilize Service Now for service request and incident handling, change management, and vulnerability management.
Working with the security teams, identify vulnerabilities and work to remediate those vulnerabilities based on criticality, priority.
Ability to work effectively with external vendors and telecommunication providers.
Participate on the team's on-call rotation.
Ability to lift over 50lbs. as needed for typical hardware installation duties.

What You'll Bring

A Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience is required.
5+ years of experience in large campus environment is preferred.
Certifications such as Cisco CCNA, CCNP, Azure network engineer associate are preferred.
Problem-solving and attention to detail and the ability to work on multiple competing priorities
Ability to prioritize and be proactive, highly organized, with superb communication and interpersonal skills
Professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and collaborate with people at all levels across all departments
Proficiency in MS Office Suite
Compensation
The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position in Chicago. This range may differ based on your geographic location and cost of living considerations. At Kirkland & Ellis, we consider compensation more than just a base salary. Compensation Range:
Chicago: $137,000 - $144,500
