Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Cathodic Protection Specialist to join our engineering and technical services team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing corrosion control and cathodic protection systems throughout the project lifecycle-from design review and field testing to commissioning and final walkdowns. This position involves collaborating with internal project groups and external contractors to ensure all assets meet rigorous client standards and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive project design reviews and pre-review deliverables to ensure corrosion principles align with client standards
- Create technical sketches and drawings for rectifiers, anodes, test stations, and related cathodic protection features
- Perform field testing for design and verification purposes, including soil potential, soil resistivity, current evaluations, and close interval surveys
- Conduct site visits during pre-construction, active construction phases, and final walkdowns
- Coordinate with commissioning contractors, troubleshoot system issues, and analyze commissioning data for abnormalities
- Assist with pipeline commissioning efforts, including moisture and odorant monitoring
- Maintain field test equipment to ensure optimal operating condition and perform minor repairs as needed
Qualifications & Requirements- NACE / AMPP Cathodic Protection Level 2 (CP2) Certification
- 2-year Engineering or Technical degree (4-year degree preferred) or equivalent professional experience
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of hands-on cathodic protection field testing and design experience
- Working knowledge of Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI) principles and NDE techniques/applications (UT, RT, PT, AUT, PAUT, RTR)
- Proficiency in reading, reviewing, and interpreting engineering project packages, P&IDs, and equipment drawings
- Strong project management skills with the ability to balance multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong problem-solving and arithmetic capabilities
- Physical ability to perform field duties, including driving, standing, walking, climbing, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds
- Ability to travel overnight to customer sites by automobile during the week as required
