Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced SAP Technical Architecture Lead at the Manager level to lead the architecture, design, and implementation of complex enterprise SAP landscapes. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with SAP S/4HANA RISE, SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), SAP-to-SAP integration, middleware solutions, and cloud infrastructure.
This is a remote contract opportunity with the client based in San Jose, California. The role requires approximately 25% travel to support client meetings, architecture discussions, technical planning, and program delivery activities.
The successful candidate will lead the technical architecture workstream, collaborate directly with SAP RISE teams, oversee infrastructure and connectivity requirements, and drive SAP environment strategy, readiness, performance optimization, and enterprise integration.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the technical architecture workstream for enterprise-scale SAP implementations, upgrades, and transformation programs.
Design and oversee SAP-to-SAP and SAP-to-non-SAP integrations across complex enterprise landscapes.
Drive technical architecture and integration strategies involving SAP S/4HANA RISE, SAP BTP, and middleware platforms such as Boomi.
Work directly with SAP RISE teams on infrastructure planning, system connectivity, system sizing, capacity planning, and performance testing.
Define and manage SAP environment strategy, including client strategy, landscape design, environment readiness, and deployment planning.
Oversee environment readiness and planning across various program phases, including development, testing, quality assurance, and production.
Provide technical governance and architectural oversight across multiple SAP modules and integrated non-SAP enterprise applications.
Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, security, integration, and application teams to translate IT requirements into scalable technical architectures.
Lead cloud migration planning and execution, including SAP landscape transitions to RISE environments.
Identify and mitigate technical risks related to system integration, infrastructure, performance, connectivity, and deployment readiness.
Drive performance tuning, system optimization, capacity planning, and SAP landscape stability.
Establish architecture standards, technical design guidelines, and implementation best practices.
Lead and mentor onshore technical delivery teams while ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and program objectives.
Coordinate with business stakeholders, SAP technical teams, infrastructure teams, and third-party vendors to ensure successful delivery.
Required Technical Skills and Experience
Strong technical architecture experience with SAP S/4HANA RISE.
Extensive experience with SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) and SAP integration architecture.
Proven experience designing and managing SAP-to-SAP integrations and integrations between SAP and non-SAP enterprise applications.
Experience with middleware and integration platforms such as Boomi.
Direct experience working with SAP RISE teams on infrastructure, connectivity, system sizing, capacity planning, and performance testing.
Strong understanding of SAP system landscapes, environment strategy, client strategy, and environment readiness planning.
Experience with SAP cloud migration methodologies and enterprise SAP transformation programs.
Knowledge of SAP technical architecture, infrastructure dependencies, system performance, and landscape optimization.
Experience providing technical governance and architectural oversight across multiple SAP modules and integrated systems.
Strong leadership experience managing technical workstreams and guiding onshore delivery teams.
Excellent stakeholder management, communication, problem-solving, and technical decision-making skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience leading SAP S/4HANA RISE implementation or migration programs.
Experience with SAP BTP integration services and enterprise integration architecture.
Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, network connectivity, security, and performance considerations for SAP environments.
Experience coordinating with SAP, infrastructure, cloud, and middleware vendors.
Ability to manage multiple technical workstreams and drive architecture decisions in complex enterprise environments.
