Platform Engineer (Onsite - Omaha, NE)OverviewWe're looking for a DevSecOps Engineer to help modernize DevOps practices, strengthen cloud governance, and embed security directly into how software is built and deployed. This role sits within a software engineering organization and is ideal for someone who enjoys leading by influence, improving platforms, and enabling other teams to work faster and safer.
This is not a principal-level role, but it does require deep experience, strong judgment, and the ability to guide others.
Location: Onsite, Omaha, NE (local candidates required or able to relocate)
What You'll Do- Lead and support DevSecOps initiatives to modernize CI/CD pipelines and platform capabilities
- Assess and evolve the current Azure DevOps pipeline ecosystem, moving toward modern, code-based pipelines
- Design and deliver version-controlled YAML templates with built-in security and compliance controls
- Integrate security scanning (SAST, DAST, SBOM) and dependency/package scanning into pipelines
- Embed cloud governance and "governance-as-code" practices into automated systems
- Perform gap analyses to identify security vulnerabilities, non-compliance, and deployment risks
- Automate compliance evidence and replace manual audits with real-time, audit-ready reporting
- Surface security risks and vulnerabilities into internal developer dashboards for transparency and faster remediation
- Collaborate across software engineering, architecture, cloud, and security teams
- Help define and support Golden Paths that enable teams to build securely by default
- Mentor and support engineers who may not have strong DevOps or software backgrounds
What We're Looking For- Strong experience in DevOps / DevSecOps (not a principal role)
- Strong experience with Azure DevOps for CI/CD pipelines
- Hands-on experience with GitHub and/or GitLab
- Deep understanding of CI/CD principles, DevSecOps practices, and cloud governance
- Experience building code-based pipelines using YAML
- Strong grounding in software engineering principles (development experience is a plus)
- Ability to assess platforms and recommend modern DevOps improvements
- Comfortable leading through influence and helping elevate the team
Preferred Experience- 4+ years of design and implementation experience across IT and engineering disciplines
- Expertise in at least two of the following areas:
- Cloud technologies
- Application development and APIs
- Middleware
- Infrastructure or networking
- Databases or storage
- Exposure to diverse technical environments and architectures
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and how DevOps supports Agile teams
- Experience with application monitoring and observability tools
- Insurance industry experience is a plus, but not required

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $50.00 - $75.00/hr.
