This role is integral to supporting the U.S. Navy's mission by conducting Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) analyses on shipboard instrumentation and control systems to optimize calibration workloads. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical expertise, analytical capability, and hands-on engineering experience to support shipboard instrumentation, calibration systems, and related processes across the fleet.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Perform Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) analyses on shipboard instrumentation and control systems to optimize calibration workload.
  • Develop and maintain Calibration Requirements Lists (CRLs).
  • Create and update calibration procedures for permanently installed instrumentation and shipboard machinery control systems.
  • Review new machinery/system designs and modifications to assess calibration impacts.
  • Analyze Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E) system metrics where instrument calibration influences performance or maintenance outcomes.
  • Conduct calibration interval analyses and adjust calibration periodicities for selected instrumentation.
  • Review Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) and Alterations Equivalent to Repairs (AERs) for calibration-related considerations.
  • Provide technical guidance for waivers, deviations, and departures from specification requirements.
  • Identify new technologies and processes that reduce "time-to-cal" and lower equipment Total Ownership Cost (TOC).
  • Respond to high-visibility technical issues requiring rapid assessment and engineering expertise.
  • Support key Navy initiatives, including:
    • Troubled Systems Process
    • Maintenance Effectiveness Reviews
    • Engineering for Reduced Maintenance
    • Cumbersome Work Practices
    • Capital Investment for Labor
  • Establish technical specification requirements for SISCAL standards.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Naval Engineering, or similar fields).
  • Must have a SECRET clearance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proven ability to manage complex technical projects.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; experience working in collaborative, cross-functional environments.
  • Familiarity with naval systems, ship configurations, and test/calibration procedures.
  • Relevant engineering experience within military, naval, or defense environments.
  • Experience with ISO 9001:2015 or similar quality management systems.
