The OPEX Engineer will lead continuous improvement initiatives, support labor and process optimization, analyze manufacturing performance data, and implement process enhancements that drive measurable operational results. This position will work cross-functionally with operations, maintenance, engineering, quality, and supply chain teams to improve manufacturing processes, equipment performance, and workforce productivity.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify, lead, and facilitate continuous improvement projects aligned with PEAK initiatives and site productivity objectives.
  • Analyze manufacturing processes and workflows to identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, throughput, efficiency, and waste reduction.
  • Support implementation and sustainment of Lean Manufacturing principles including standard work, visual management, 5S, Kaizen, root cause analysis, and value stream mapping.
  • Document and maintain manufacturing process flows, procedures, and operational standards.
  • Demonstrate leadership and commitment to Safety, Quality, Customer Focus, ISO standards, and Continuous Improvement best practices.
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, and Quality teams to identify and implement process improvements and equipment optimization initiatives.
  • Lead and support equipment trials, process validations, and implementation of new manufacturing technologies and automation systems.
  • Apply statistical methods, data analysis, and industrial engineering techniques to improve labor utilization, production efficiency, and manufacturing performance.
  • Develop and maintain productivity reporting, KPIs, dashboards, and operational metrics to support data-driven decision making.
  • Conduct time studies, process observations, and workflow analysis to establish labor standards and improve operational performance.
  • Create and deliver training materials and programs related to operational excellence, process improvements, and manufacturing systems.
  • Serve as a change agent by coaching and supporting employees and leadership teams in a continuous improvement environment.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to identify bottlenecks, resolve process constraints, and improve production flow.
  • Support problem-solving activities using structured methodologies such as DMAIC, A3, Fishbone Analysis, and 5 Whys.
  • Provide structured and creative analysis to identify operational improvement opportunities and communicate findings effectively to leadership and plant personnel.
  • Perform ad hoc operational and productivity analysis as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or related field preferred.
  • 3-5 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment with project management and process improvement responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing and supporting Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, Kaizen, or Operational Excellence initiatives.
  • Experience working with manufacturing systems, production processes, automation technologies, and industrial equipment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process improvement skills.
  • Proven ability to identify manufacturing bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and operational constraints in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing process flows, labor utilization, and productivity measurement techniques.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.
  • Experience with ERP and manufacturing systems preferred (SAP, MES, automation controls, etc.).
  • Excellent verbal, written, and technical communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety procedures, engineering drawings, operating instructions, and technical documents.
  • Experience developing and analyzing operational metrics, productivity reporting, and performance dashboards.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
  • Self-directed, accountable, hands-on, and results-oriented with strong interpersonal skills.
