Cable Technician I - Job DescriptionOverview We are seeking ONE entry-level
Cable Technician I to support structured cabling installations on commercial job sites. This role involves pulling cable, assisting current technicians, handling materials, and performing basic installation tasks using hand and power tools. Candidates must be reliable, safety-minded, and comfortable working in active construction environments.
Key Responsibilities- Pull and route cable (Cat5e/Cat6) through ceilings, walls, and pathways.
- Assist Cable Technician II with daily tasks and project requirements.
- Run, stage, and organize materials and equipment on site.
- Safely utilize hand and power tools for installation tasks.
- Climb ladders and work at various heights as needed.
- Layout and install wireway, bus duct, cable tray, switches, receptacles, and related devices.
- Build and prepare telecom closets, including mounting backboards, racks, patch panels, cross-connects, and fiber hardware.
- Install grounding for racks, equipment, and cabling as required.
- Complete IDC terminations (110/66 blocks, patch panels).
- Pull wire and assist with conduit installations.
- Operate tools and equipment requiring two-hand use (cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools, etc.).

- Screwdrivers (flathead and Phillips)
- Drywall saw
- Torpedo level

- Snips with belt sheath
- Needle-nose and channel-lock pliers
- Hammer
- Cable stripper
- Flashlight
- Work gloves
Additional Requirements- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to work on ladders and in physically demanding environments
Experience LevelEntry Level - Training provided for motivated candidates with the right attitude and work ethic.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Barker, NY.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $22.00/hr.
