Job DescriptionThe Network Engineer supports the design, implementation, and operational maintenance of enterprise network environments, including LAN/WAN infrastructure, data center backbone systems, and related network services. This role ensures reliable, secure, and scalable connectivity across the organization and its affiliated sites.
Primary Responsibilities- Network Design & Engineering
- Develop design specifications for network topologies, hardware, and distribution systems.
- Create cabling specifications and layout designs for fiber and copper infrastructure.
- Design physical and virtual segmentation schemes to meet diverse organizational requirements.
- Develop, document, and enforce standards for all network components.
- Network Management & Monitoring
- Implement physical and logical network management systems.
- Configure and deploy monitoring tools to optimize capacity and ensure high availability.
- Maintain accurate documentation and inventory of all network components.
- Project Execution & Leadership
- Guide assigned technical staff according to project plans; provide training and mentorship.
- Translate project phases into executable work orders for subcontractors.
- Prepare bills of materials (BOMs), cost estimates, and labor projections.
- Contribute to annual budgeting processes.
- Operational Support
- Perform advanced troubleshooting to identify root causes of network issues.
- Provide on-call support and escalate incidents when appropriate.
- Implement improvements and support upgrades of organizational network infrastructure.
- Continuous Improvement
- Participate in user- or department-initiated quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain professional expertise through training, seminars, and technical reading.
Required Skills & Qualifications- Experience supporting large enterprise LAN/WAN environments
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, subnetting, and general network addressing.
- Familiarity with:
- Network electronics (optical networking, routers, switches)
- Network management tools (Intermapper, Netdisco, Cisco Prime Infrastructure)
- Ethernet concepts and routing protocols (OSPF, BGP)
- Structured cable plant techniques for both fiber and copper
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
Work Environment- Daily on-site work at the Greece, NY Data Center.
- Occasional travel to customer sites as needed.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $45.00 - $45.00/hr.
