Job DetailsRole Overview
The Chief Power Engineer will serve as the senior technical leader responsible for the engineering strategy, design, and optimization of integrated power systems across the organization's multi-technology energy campus. This role is ideal for a visionary engineer with a Ph.D. in Power Systems, Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or related discipline, and a strong track record in grid technology, power generation optimization, and advanced engineering methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Strategy
Define and lead the power engineering roadmap for large-scale, integrated energy systems spanning renewable, thermal, nuclear, and grid-connected assets.
Develop and validate advanced algorithms and analytical frameworks for system design, dynamic load balancing, and performance optimization.
Ensure engineering excellence in simulations, modeling, and technical analysis of electric grid performance, stability, and redundancy.
Grid Integration & Smart Grid Engineering
Lead architecture and engineering development for smart grid technologies, including real-time control systems, adaptive load dispatch algorithms, and predictive grid analytics.
Oversee integration of heterogeneous power sources (solar, gas turbines, nuclear) with utility grid and behind-the-meter systems to achieve seamless interoperability and resilience.
Drive innovation in grid automation, distributed energy resource (DER) coordination, and energy storage optimization.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Execution
Partner closely with nuclear engineering, systems engineering, and project execution teams to align power architecture with regulatory requirements, licensing milestones, and project delivery timelines.
Mentor and develop a team of power engineers, analysts, and technical specialists; influence recruitment of top engineering talent.
Coordinate technical interactions with industry partners, vendors, and technology providers to inform procurement and implementation decisions.
Technical Innovation & Research
Conduct original research and contribute to intellectual leadership in power systems engineering, smart grid technologies, and algorithmic design for complex energy systems.
Publish and present findings at key industry forums when appropriate; represent the company in technical collaborations and consortia.
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Energy Engineering, or closely related field.
Extensive experience (10+ years) in power systems design, grid integration, and engineering leadership at enterprise or utility scale.
Deep technical expertise in smart grid technologies, power forecasting, advanced modeling, and algorithm development.
Proven track record with simulation tools, power system planning software, and performance optimization frameworks.
Strong communicator with experience leading multidisciplinary technical teams and interfacing with executive leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with large-scale energy projects that integrate renewable, thermal, and hybrid power generation.
Prior involvement in national-scale grid modernization initiatives, utility partnerships, or regulatory engagement.
Background in developing or licensing power systems in highly regulated environments.
