Senior Solution Architect

Role: Senior Solution Architect – Azure & AWS
Engagement Type: Contract (Project-Based) 
Duration: Estimated 12–24 months (scope-dependent) 
Location: Remote (On-site as required by engagement)

Overview: We are seeking an experienced Senior Solution Architect with deep expertise in both Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS) to support client engagements across cloud strategy, architecture, migration, and operations. This contractor will serve as a trusted technical advisor to clients, leading workshops, designing multi-cloud architectures, and driving delivery across complex cloud programs. The ideal candidate brings broad platform expertise, strong consulting instincts, and a track record of delivering measurable outcomes for enterprise clients.

Key Responsibilities
  Cloud Strategy & Advisory
•    Lead discovery workshops and stakeholder interviews to assess current-state infrastructure, workloads, and cloud readiness
•    Develop cloud strategy and roadmap recommendations aligned to client business objectives
•    Advise clients on platform selection, multi-cloud vs. single-cloud trade-offs, and hybrid connectivity patterns
•    Produce executive-ready deliverables: cloud business cases, TCO analyses, and risk assessments
•    Guide clients through cloud governance frameworks including Azure Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF) and AWS Cloud Adoption Frameworks)
Architecture & Design
•    Design enterprise-grade landing zones on Azure (Management Groups, Policy, Entra ID integration) and AWS (Control Tower, Organizations, SCP
•    Architect network connectivity patterns: Azure ExpressRoute, VPN Gateway, Virtual WAN; AWS Direct Connect, Transit Gateway, Site-to-Site VPN
•    Define cloud security baselines, identity and access management architectures, and compliance controls aligned to client requirements (HIPAA, PCI-DSS, SOC 2, FedRAMP)
•    Design infrastructure-as-code standards and pipelines for repeatable, governed deployments
•    Produce architecture decision records (ADRs), high-level and low-level design documents
Migration & Modernization
•    Lead workload portfolio assessments and apply migration strategy frameworks (6 Rs) across Azure and AWS targets
•    Oversee migration execution using platform-native tooling: Azure Migrate, Azure Site Recovery; AWS Application Migration Service (MGN), Database Migration Service (DMS)
•    Guide application modernization pathways: containers (AKS, EKS), serverless (Azure Functions, AWS Lambda), managed database services
•    Drive cutover planning, wave execution, post-migration validation, and hypercare
Delivery & Client Management
•    Serve as a senior technical lead and primary point of contact for day-to-day client engagement
•    Manage scope, risks, and delivery milestones in alignment with project timelines
•    Coordinate across workstreams involving client engineering teams, third-party vendors, and internal delivery staff
•    Provide regular status reporting to client stakeholders and executive sponsors
•    Mentor junior consultants and client team members on cloud best practices

Required Qualifications
•    8+ years of experience in cloud architecture, infrastructure, or solutions delivery roles
•    3+ years of hands-on consulting or client-facing experience in a professional services environment
•    Demonstrated delivery experience on both Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services at enterprise scale
•    Deep knowledge of Azure core services: Virtual Machines, Virtual Network, Azure AD/Entra ID, Azure Policy, Azure Monitor, Storage, SQL/Managed Instance, AKS, and ARM/Bicep
•    Deep knowledge of AWS core services: EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, RDS, EKS/ECS, Lambda, CloudWatch, CloudFormation/Terraform
•    Experience designing and implementing cloud landing zones and governance frameworks on Azure and/or 
•    AWS Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools: Terraform (required), Bicep or CloudFormation (preferred)
•    Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present complex technical topics to executive audiences
•    At least one active professional-level certification on each platform:
•    Azure: Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Azure DevOps Engineer Expert
•    AWS: AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional
